D&D Starter Set Competitor Pathfinder Quest Gets Fully Funded in Under 90 Minutes

Board games are becoming more and more popular, as many gamers enjoy taking breaks from digital games for more hands-on experiences. This trend is also affecting tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs), with major brands increasingly creating games that feel like traditional board games. Recently, Wizards of the Coast released a starter set, *Heroes of the Borderlands*, that was heavily inspired by board games. Now, the company behind *Pathfinder* is preparing to launch a large-scale board game based on its popular role-playing game.

Paizo recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for *Pathfinder Quest*. While not a traditional starter set like D&D’s *Heroes of the Borderlands*, it offers a similar experience. This cooperative board game provides everything players need for an adventure without a game master, including character creation and twelve unique scenarios. Pathfinder fans quickly showed their support, fully funding the project on BackerKit in less than 90 minutes.

Pathfinder Quest Delivers A Board Game Twist on the Iconic TTRPG

I was really impressed by the size of the *Dungeons & Dragons* starter set, but Paizo’s *Pathfinder Quest* project takes it to another level! This massive board game includes everything you need to fully experience *Pathfinder*, like cards, map tiles, and detailed miniatures for both heroes and villains. While not a traditional starter set, it aims to recreate a full tabletop RPG campaign as a board game. As a special touch, it’s set in the same location as the very first *Pathfinder* adventure, Darkmoon Vale.

This game features a unique story set in Falcon’s Hollow, a town overrun by the undead. Players create their own characters and use an Adventure Book to guide them through the narrative, gaining experience, learning spells, and developing their abilities. A Standard and Deluxe Edition will be available, with the Deluxe Edition exclusive to backers of the crowdfunding campaign. However, even the Standard Edition is incredibly substantial, including map tiles, enemy cards, tokens, and character and enemy miniatures – and plenty more!

Paizo launched a crowdfunding campaign with a $75,000 goal for the project, and fans quickly exceeded it – in less than 90 minutes! Now that the initial goal is met, they’re working towards additional features, called ‘stretch goals.’ These include more Quest Dice at $125,000, additional miniatures for the undead enemies at $150,000, and a new Oracle character class at $200,000. As of today, reaching the first stretch goal of $125,000 seems very likely, as the campaign has already raised over $120,500 and continues to grow.

The *Pathfinder Quest* Standard Edition will cost $119.99 when it’s released in stores. However, if you support the crowdfunding campaign now at the Apprentice Adventurer level, you can get it for only $100. There’s also a special Deluxe Edition available through BackerKit with exclusive content and a discounted price. So, if you’re excited about this game, supporting it early will save you money! The campaign runs from September 16th to October 17th. After the campaign ends, we’ll share more information about the project’s schedule and when *Pathfinder Quest* will be available for tabletop RPG fans.
