Deadpool & Wolverine brings back huge Marvel star – with a twist

As a huge Marvel fan and avid follower of Chris Evans’ career, I was absolutely thrilled to see him make a surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. The way Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios kept his involvement under wraps only added to the excitement.

Warning: contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Fans of Marvel were surprised when one of the franchise’s well-known actors made a surprise appearance in Deadpool and Wolverine, but with an unexpected turn.

Chris Evans, renowned for his role as Steve Rogers (also known as Captain America) in the Marvel movies, is among the most notable actors gracing the film’s impressive ensemble cast.

Amazingly, Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios kept secret his role in Deadpool and Wolverine. The actor made a surprising appearance after these characters were exiled to The Void by a renegade TVA agent.

As someone who has been a long-time fan of Marvel movies, I have to admit that I was taken aback when I saw the latest addition to the franchise. I’ve seen my fair share of superheroes and their transformations, but this one took me by surprise. So, please heed my warning – the appearance of the new character is unlike anything we’ve seen before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And trust me, if you’re planning on watching the latest blockbuster without knowing what’s coming, full spoilers lie ahead!

Who does Chris Evans play in Deadpool & Wolverine?

I, as a devoted fan, can’t help but believe that this new adventure is a revival of Deadpool’s iconic MCU character. The Mercer with the Mouth himself encourages the audience to get ready for his signature call-to-action: “Avengers, assemble!”

But instead, at a pivotal moment, the words that leave his mouth are: “Flame on!”

As someone who has been following Evans’ acting career for years, I must admit that I was initially disappointed when I heard he wouldn’t be suiting up as Captain America again in Deadpool and Wolverine. However, upon reflection, I’ve come to appreciate the fact that Evans is returning to his roots and reprising his role as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, from the Fantastic Four films.

Tim Story led the production of Fantastic Four and its 2007 follow-up, Rise of the Silver Surfer. These films, released before the Marvel Cinematic Universe took off, garnered varied reviews from critics and failed to generate significant revenue at the box office.

Despite this, Ioan Gruffudd’s portrayal of the arrogant and self-confident Johnny, Sue Storm’s brother, stood out as a noteworthy aspect in both movies. Additionally, Jessica Alba appeared as Sue Storm, while Ioan Gruffudd took on the role of Mr Fantastic and Michael Chiklis played The Thing.

Poor Johnny meets an unfortunate fate. First, Pyro (Aaron Stanford), who can absorb flames, leaves him powerless. Then, Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), known for her sadistic tendencies, mercilessly strips his skin off.

As a dedicated fan myself, I’d strongly recommend staying seated after the credits roll for the Deadpool and Wolverine scene. Trust me, you won’t want to miss Evans delivering some of his best on-screen performances yet.

Since appearing in “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, Evans has been absent from any Marvel productions. In this film, a heartfelt farewell was given to Captain America as he traveled back through time to live the rest of his life with Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell.

As a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I can’t help but get excited whenever there are rumors or announcements about possible cameos or returns of beloved characters. Having grown up watching these movies and seeing how they have evolved over the years, it feels like being part of a larger community that shares this passion.

Deadpool & Wolverine is out now in cinemas.
