Deadpool & Wolverine: Hugh Jackman Recreates Iconic Meme

As a long-time gamer and Marvel fan, I can’t help but be absolutely thrilled by the record-breaking success of “Deadpool & Wolverine” at the box office. The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has truly exceeded my expectations with its impressive opening weekend numbers, raking in over $438 million worldwide.

The new film starring Deadpool and Wolverine, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has been in theaters for just a few days yet has already broken several box office records. This Marvel production raked in over $205 million in domestic sales, establishing new milestones such as the biggest July weekend and the largest opening weekend for an R-rated movie ever. Furthermore, it set records for the highest single-day gross in July and the most significant opening weekend revenue in 2024. To celebrate this achievement, Marvel delivered a fitting response.

As a longtime fan of both Marvel Comics and Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine, I was absolutely thrilled to see him pay homage to one of my favorite memories from X-Men: The Animated Series – the iconic meme of Wolverine staring at a picture frame. The image of Jackman sitting casually on a couch, clutching a photo frame with an expression of pure excitement and surprise, brought back fond memories of countless hours spent watching the animated series as a kid.

As a long-time fan of both Wolverine and Deadpool, I couldn’t help but be delighted by the playful banter between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds on Twitter. It was reminiscent of the camaraderie between these iconic Marvel characters, each known for their unique wit and charisma. Jackman’s recreation of the classic meme featuring Wolverine was a nod to the fans, and Reynolds’ response with Deadpool in the same pose holding up a picture frame of Jackman’s Wolverine was the perfect comeback. It’s moments like these that remind us why these actors have become synonymous with their roles and why their on-screen chemistry is so beloved by audiences. The interplay between them showcases their ability to connect with fans in a way that transcends the screen and adds an exciting layer of interaction to the Marvel Universe.

An intriguing twist in Deadpool & Wolverine: Hugh Jackman didn’t reenact the scene of Wolverine gazing intently at a photograph in the film itself. In the promotion material, Jackman portrayed several versions of Wolverine, such as Age of Apocalypse Wolverine, traditional brown-and-yellow Wolverine, and even accurate-to-comics short king Wolverine. However, the scene where Wolverine stares at a photo didn’t make it into the movie – until now.

In the Marvel Studios production titled “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Deadpool, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, and Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, will alter the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s history together. This film boasts an impressive cast including Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox and Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova. Notable returning Deadpool co-stars are Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapi?i? as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Rob Delaney as Peter, and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar. Aaron Stanford reprises his role as Pyro from the X-Men series, while there are rumors of Jennifer Garner’s return as Elektra Natchios.

Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Lauren Shuler Donner are the producers, while Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick serve as executive producers for “Deadpool and Wolverine.” The screenplay is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy. “Deadpool and Wolverine” is currently showing in theaters.
