Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds Reveals Dream Shot Made The Movie

As a fan who has been following the Marvel universe for decades, I can confidently say that the collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine, aptly titled “Deadpool & Wolverine,” has truly outdone itself. Ryan Reynolds‘ revelation about the “Like a Prayer” sequence being the secret sauce behind the movie’s success is quite intriguing. It’s as if Madonna herself has woven her magic into the fabric of this film, creating an indelible bond between the song and the franchise.

Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool and Wolverine in the movies, recently disclosed that a particular scene was instrumental in making the film a massive success. On The Official Marvel Podcast this week, Reynolds shared his thoughts about various spoilers. He revealed that the “Like a Prayer” sequence had been on his mind ever since Deadpool 2 hit theaters. This song, originally by Madonna, has seen another surge in popularity due to its inclusion in the soundtrack. The unique scene featuring Logan and Wade Wilson battling the Deadpool Corps is now considered a standout moment following Avengers: Endgame for the franchise.

Reynolds casually admitted, “I’m clueless about it,” he shrugged. “It’s a peculiar matter, similar to Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer.’ Ever since Deadpool 2, I’ve been thinking about that specific scene – not engaging in a fight with the Deadpool Corps. An unexpected meeting with Madonna took place, which was almost surreal and I found myself thinking she holds a piece of this film’s creation. The entire movie originated from that song.”

How Did Those Cameos Happen?

The appearances of characters in the movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” have become quite the buzz following its release. During the same podcast episode, Shawn Levy discussed the process of selecting which characters would return. With spoilers galore, securing the returns of Wesley Snipes, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Garner, and Dafne Keen was undoubtedly an exciting experience. Maintaining the legacy is crucial in every aspect of this production.

In a lively atmosphere reminiscent of a celebration, we decided to incorporate the idea of ‘legacy’ into our storyline. This led us to brainstorm characters who didn’t quite reach their final chapter, Levy revealed. Gathering X-23, Blade, Gambit, and Electra together brought immense joy and gratitude. Everyone was overjoyed.

“When you have individuals such as Channing Tatum who aspired to portray Gambit for over a decade. And here we are,” he added. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and joy. We managed to complete the task efficiently, yet enjoyed ourselves immensely. Yet, there was an undeniable sense of ‘wow, what an honor to be part of this project.’ That’s an experience I shall always cherish.”
