Death Stranding 2 ‘I won’t do it’ choice: What happens if you choose the dialogue option explained

At the beginning of your adventure in Death Stranding 2, Fragile presents Sam with a significant decision: should he team up with Drawbridge and help them establish a connection between Mexico and Australia?

After running out of questions, you may discuss with her about the enormous task at hand. You will then be presented with two choices in our conversation: ‘I accept’ or ‘I decline’.

Naturally, the game wants you to say you’ll do it, but what happens if you choose ‘I won’t do it’?

We’re here to explain exactly that, so if you’re interested what happens and if it’s safe to decline Fragile, read on to find out!

What happens if you choose ‘I won’t do it’ in Death Stranding 2?

First things first, nothing bad actually happens if you select ‘I won’t do it’.

Choosing this option triggers a brief video recap, showing moments like Sam cleaning or playing with Lou, which have happened previously. It then focuses in on a Polaroid image of the moment when you chose not to proceed, bringing you back to that exact point.

You’ll then be asked again to make the same decision, and can, once again, choose ‘I won’t do it’.

If you keep denying Fragile’s request, a chain of progressively absurd scenes will unfold, featuring deceiving scenarios suggesting a restart of the game, only to abruptly return you to the original decision point.

In due time, Fragile (along with the game) will grow tired of your antics, leaving you no choice but to take on the given task.

Regardless of your selection, it all leads to the same outcome eventually. So why not decline and enjoy a sequence of amusing scenes instead?
