This extended 6-minute video offers a glimpse into several story sequences of the game. The narrative begins by delving into the domestic life of protagonist Sam Porter Bridges and baby Lou, before swiftly ramping up the action as Sam embarks on a mission to locate the missing child. Though some might find the narrative of “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” perplexing for those who didn’t play the initial release in 2019, a recent trailer provides a concise summary of the first game’s storyline. The trailer primarily highlights the main plot points that propelled Sam on his mission to reunite America by fulfilling crucial tasks, rather than delving into every minor event from the game.
In an interview, musician Yoann “Woodkid” Lemoine disclosed that director Hideo Kojima had modified several elements of the story for the game, as early testers found the title extremely engaging. Lemoine stated that these alterations were made during the mid-development phase of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
During our game, there was a pivotal point in our conversation, likely around the midway mark, when he approached me and expressed concern, saying, “There seems to be an issue,” according to Lemoine.
Then, he admitted honestly that ‘The feedback from players testing our game has been exceptional. They’re loving it too much, which suggests there might be an issue. We need to adjust some elements.’ So, he made modifications to the script and key events within the game since he felt his work wasn’t causing enough controversy or evoking sufficient emotions.
Previously, Kojima expressed worries that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach might receive an excess of favorable reviews, as he feels that enduring pieces of art often face controversy upon their initial release because they challenge established norms and provoke thought.
