Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’s PC Version Supports Ray Traced Reflections and Ambient Occlusion

After director Hideo Kojima discussed the game on the radio, details about the new update for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach have been released before the PC version comes out. The PlayStation Blog also announced that PC players will be able to enjoy improved graphics thanks to ray tracing technology, specifically for reflections and ambient lighting.

The improved reflections, created with ray tracing, will appear on surfaces like water and even tar, making scenes like the fight with Neil look even more impressive. Ray tracing also enhances shadows, making them appear more natural in detailed areas like corners and between objects. While the Very High graphics setting already provides excellent detail, ray tracing takes the visuals a step further, though it wasn’t considered when determining the game’s system requirements.

The latest update introduces a new difficulty level called “To The Wilder,” which will really challenge your abilities in harsh and dangerous environments. You’ll need to be incredibly resourceful to complete deliveries. The developers aren’t revealing all the details just yet, but once you choose this difficulty, you can’t switch back. There’s no special reward for finishing it, other than the satisfaction of knowing you’ve conquered a truly difficult challenge.

I’m so excited about the new VR training area, “Trapped in a Strange Realm”! It lets you fight Neil all over again, which is awesome. And get this – beating those fights unlocks cool new bandanas for Sam. Honestly, it’s giving me major Metal Gear Solid vibes with that infinite ammo cheat! Plus, the adorable Chiral Feline will sometimes hang out in your private room, but you can also snap amazing pics of it using the updated Photo Mode features when you find it out in the world.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives on PC on March 19th, and PlayStation 5 will receive an update the same day. For more information about the PC version, check here. You can watch the launch trailer below, but be careful – it contains spoilers!
