Dec 2025 USA Sales: Industry Rebounds from One of the Worst Months on Record

Console sales were exceptionally low last month, hitting a record November low point dating back to 1995 when tracking began.

The gaming industry saw a significant improvement in December 2025, with hardware sales up six percent compared to the previous year. This increase was mainly due to the successful launch of the Switch 2 earlier in the year.

Despite earlier challenges, the industry recovered to reach $60.7 billion in revenue for 2025, a 1.4% increase from the previous year.

Although the number isn’t particularly impressive, especially given how quickly the console is selling, it’s reasonable when you consider the current economic situation.
