NCSoft’s North American division will publish the cyberpunk shooter DEFEECT, created by emptyvessel. The game will be released on several platforms, including PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.
According to a press release, emptyvessel CEO Emanuel Palalic stated that the partnership with NCSOFT is key to launching DEFECT globally with a reliable partner. He explained that NCSOFT’s support and expertise are crucial for developing a compelling single-player experience for the game, especially since many publishers are now focusing less on single-player games. Palalic expressed appreciation for NCSOFT’s confidence in their vision for DEFECT.
Here is an overview of the game, via NCSOFT:
DEFECT is a fast-paced, team-focused first-person shooter built for players who love cooperative online action. Thanks to a new partnership with NC America, emptyvessel can now improve the online gameplay and start creating a single-player experience as well.
emptyvessel was founded in 2023 by experienced game developers, including CEO Emanuel Palalic and COO Garrett Young. The team brings over a century of combined experience working on major, high-quality game franchises like DOOM, Quake, Call of Duty, and The Last of Us.
DEFECT takes place in a dark, futuristic city controlled by a mysterious AI called “THE SYSTEM.” Players will navigate a dangerous world filled with rival gangs and corrupt police. The game offers both a robust single-player campaign for an immersive offline experience and intense 4v4v4v4 multiplayer battles. These team-based fights are fast-paced and take place in tight spaces, featuring a variety of powerful weapons and advanced technology with multiple objectives to complete.
