Unlikesands through the hourglass, this celebration is far from fleeting.
The popular NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives, which first aired on November 8, 1965, and featured stars like the late John Aniston and Drake Hogestyn, has officially been on television for 60 years, making it one of the longest-running shows ever.
To celebrate this special occasion, several stars of the show, including Deidre Hall, Susan Hayes, and Jackée Harry, were the guests of honor at a gala in Los Angeles. Other soap opera favorites like Raven Bowens, AnnaLynne McCord, and Paul Telfer also joined in the celebration.
As the show approaches its anniversary, Deidre, who has played the character of psychiatrist Marlena Evans since 1976, shared her thoughts on how long it has lasted.
She shared during an appearance on Today with her co-stars James Reynolds and Eric Martsolf that none of them expected the show to last this long. However, she expressed how much they all enjoy working together, describing the set as a second home and emphasizing the strong family-like bond they’ve formed.
James, a fellow cast member, hinted at a fantastic reunion, promising fans will be excited to see everyone back together from the show set in Salem, Illinois.
James said longtime viewers will absolutely love the new season, while newcomers will gradually get a better understanding of the show’s backstory. He’s really excited about it.

There’s even more good news for fans of Days of our Lives! The show’s 60th anniversary happens right after it was honored with induction into the Broadcasting+ Cable Hall of Fame. Fellow actor Eric playfully said receiving the honor felt like any other day spent with the show’s iconic stars.
He told Today that it was a true honor to be a part of the show. He said it was amazing to think he was contributing to a program with a 60-year history, and he felt the terms ‘legendary’ and ‘iconic’ really fit the show now. They take that reputation seriously, and, as a fellow cast member mentioned, they’re all like family, having supported each other through everything. They’re simply happy to be celebrating the show’s success.
