Halloween is finally Poot’s big night out.
Ten years after a heavily edited photo of Demi Lovato became the source of the popular “Poot Lovato” meme, the singer embraced the embarrassing moment by making it her Halloween costume in 2025.
Demi Lovato wished her followers a happy Halloween and celebrated one week since the release of her album, It’s Not That Deep. In an Instagram post on October 30th, she explained she’d been fully immersed in promoting the album and decided to share a playful, silly side of herself – which she playfully referred to as ‘pootvato’.
In the pictures, Demi recreated a heavily edited photo from 2015, using a lot of makeup and styling her hair to look like it did when she famously shaved half of it off.
A new video offered a glimpse into what Demi believes Poot’s daily life is like in the garage she calls home. Set to Sabrina Carpenter’s song “House Tour,” Demi, age 33, gave a tour of the space, pointing out unpacked boxes, a space heater, and bubble wrap.
In the same post, Demi jokingly acted out a scene where Poot was stuck inside, playfully hitting her garage door while yelling, “Help!”
Demi now enjoys the joke about Poot, but it wasn’t always that way. Initially, fans playfully imagined Poot as her twin sister who was being held captive in a basement, and Demi didn’t find it amusing.
In a 2023 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Demi explained she initially believed a viral photo was real. She thought it was just a bad angle, but later discovered it had been photoshopped. While she eventually felt relieved it wasn’t actually her face, she admitted the whole experience was strange.
Now, here and there, she’ll give fans an update on how her twin sister is really doing.
In an April TikTok, Demi explained that if anyone asks her to release her pet, Poot, from the basement, she absolutely won’t do it.
