For fans eagerly anticipating the battle against Muzan in North America, they’ll have to wait until September. However, fresh content is being released globally to celebrate the Ufotable production. In a recent interview, Tanjiro’s voice actor, Natsuki Hanae, disclosed that his personal background bears some resemblance to his character’s. Regrettably, Hanae draws on genuine experiences from Tanjiro’s life to bring the anime hero to life, stemming from a deep well of empathy for the character’s struggles.

In a recent conversation with Sponichi Annex, Natsuki Hanae opened up about the tragic loss of several family members at an early age. “When I was around 18 or 19, I lost my mother,” he said. “A few years later, when I was about 20 or 21, my father also passed away. The year after that, my grandmother who I lived with, also left us. That time in my life was incredibly difficult. However, those hardships have given me a unique perspective on my work. I often reflect that the opportunities I’ve had as a voice actor might have been their final gift to me.

Tanjiro’s Pain Explained

As an observer, I’d put it like this: “Just like Hanae shared, he pours his raw emotions into the recording studio. When he performs sad scenes, tears flow immediately. Even thinking about it now sets him off. He views it positively but admits he hasn’t fully conquered it yet. With Tanjiro’s upcoming trials and tribulations in this trilogy, both Hanae and fans should brace themselves for some profound emotional moments.

Although Tanjiro Kamado is one of Natsuki Hanae’s most significant roles, it’s important to note that the Demon Slayer series isn’t the only production he’s involved with. Recently, Hanae has been contributing his voice acting skills to various shows such as Dandadan, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Blue Lock, Black Clover, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, and Chainsaw Man, among others. Given that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is expected to run for close to three hours, you can anticipate hearing a lot of Hanae in the film.
