With huge success at the box office worldwide, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is now the highest-grossing anime film ever. While fans eagerly await the next installment of the final story arc, this latest adventure with Tanjiro and the Hashira continues to be a hit. Although it might not be number one in North America this weekend, the film has already achieved major success in Japan. Demon Slayer is sure to remain a popular and influential part of the anime landscape for years to come.
The animated film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle recently won the award for Best Animation Film at the 49th Japan Academy Film Prize Awards, held on March 13th. This was a significant achievement considering the strong competition from other nominated films, including Chainsaw Man – The Movie: The Reze Arc, 100 Meters, Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise, and Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback. Although some anime fans wished Demon Slayer had been nominated for Best Animated Picture at the Academy Awards, this Japanese award is a fantastic honor.
The Infinity Castle Swings Open Its Doors

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle kicks off a three-part arc that will conclude the anime series, and it features some of the most intense fights we’ve seen so far. While Tanjiro defeated Akaza and Zenitsu overcame Kaigaku, not all the Hashira were victorious. Sadly, Shinobu, the Insect Hashira, couldn’t defeat Doma, and this resulted in her death. The movie ends on a dramatic cliffhanger, and a post-credit scene reveals Muzan gathering his strength. Currently, the release date and title for the next part of the story are still unknown, but fans are hoping it will be released next year.
If you’re eager to find out how Tanjiro and the Hashira’s story concludes, the Demon Slayer manga has already finished. Creator Koyoharu Gotouge published the final chapter in 2020, providing a satisfying ending to the series. There haven’t been any indications that the author plans to continue the story with a sequel or spin-off. Though the manga may be over, Demon Slayer‘s impact will last for years to come. Given the series’ ending, the final two movies are expected to be very popular as the Hashira intensify their battle against Muzan, the Demon Lord.
