Fans of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba are eager for news about when Infinity Castle will be available to stream, but they’ve just received disappointing news: another major anime movie will be released for streaming first. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is expected to be the biggest anime film of 2025, having performed exceptionally well in Japanese theaters since its release last summer. After remaining exclusively in cinemas for the rest of the year, fans have been hoping for a home release soon.
While the film has been successful, it’s created a frustrating situation for fans. The continued theatrical run of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has delayed its release for home viewing, especially outside of Japan. Now, even newer movies – specifically one released after Demon Slayer and distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll – are getting released for streaming first, further postponing the Demon Slayer release.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Won’t Be Streaming Anytime Soon
Crunchyroll will be streaming Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc this spring. Like the film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, it was a collaboration between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll and was released in theaters. While it performed well internationally, it didn’t achieve the same level of box office success.
These two films aren’t really in the same league, but it’s interesting that a newer movie got a streaming release before Infinity Castle. The likely reason is that the newer film is still performing well in theaters internationally, and releasing it for streaming now could hurt ticket sales for the enhanced versions. This means fans outside of Japan are unfortunately still waiting to stream Infinity Castle.
When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 Come Out?
The continued delay in streaming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle also pushes back the release of the second movie in the trilogy. With two more films planned to cover the expansive Infinity Castle arc from the original manga, no release dates have been announced yet. Given the success of the first film, there’s currently no pressure to release them quickly.
Fans of Demon Slayer are feeling frustrated as they wait for new content. Outside of Japan, the first movie isn’t available to buy or stream, making the wait for the next film even harder. Plus, updates are likely to be slow, especially with Japan preparing to re-air older episodes.
