The anime film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has become the most successful anime movie ever, and it’s clear why. As the first part of a three-part finale, the movie plunges Tanjiro and the Hashira directly into the territory of the Demon Lord Muzan, where they battle incredibly strong demons known as the Upper Moons. Despite being released in Japan over the summer, the beautifully animated film from Ufotable continues to be shown in theaters. And with a streaming release date coming soon, Infinity Castle is also planning a special theatrical event that promises to be unlike anything anime fans have seen before.
Starting December 28th, ten Japanese theaters are hosting special “Demon Slayer Corps Support Screenings” where fans are encouraged to cheer loudly and react enthusiastically throughout the movie to show their support for the Hashira characters. To help fans know what to do, Ufotable released a new video featuring Tanjiro explaining how to participate. The screenings will also include a funny commentary track featuring the series’ bird characters. Currently, these special showings are only confirmed for Japan, but fans in North America are hoping they’ll be available here soon. You can watch the new promotional video below.
What Next, Demon Slayers?
Starting December 28th in Japan, several theaters will be hosting a special event celebrating the Hashira. Here’s a list of the participating locations:
- Hokkaido: TOHO Cinemas Susukino Miyagi
- Prefecture: TOHO Cinemas Sendai
- Tokyo: TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku, TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro
- Kanagawa Prefecture: T-Joy Yokohama
- Aichi Prefecture: Midland Square Cinema
- Osaka Prefecture: TOHO Cinemas Namba
- Hiroshima Prefecture: Hiroshima Wald 11
- Fukuoka Prefecture: T-Joy Hakata
Not much is known about the final two movies that will conclude the Demon Slayer anime. We don’t yet have titles for either film, and release dates are still uncertain. The upcoming Jump Festa event, a yearly convention focused on popular manga and anime, is the most likely place to hear updates this year. Demon Slayer will be at the event, but it hasn’t said what news it will share.
Fans hoping for more stories about Tanjiro and the characters from Demon Slayer might be disappointed. The series creator, Koyoharu Gotouge, hasn’t suggested any plans for a sequel or spin-off, and the ending for Tanjiro and Nezuko felt pretty final. This likely means there won’t be any new Demon Slayer chapters.
