The anime film *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle* has become the highest-grossing anime movie ever. Anime’s popularity has surged globally in recent years, attracting a new wave of fans. This growth, particularly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, has propelled several franchises into the mainstream, and *Demon Slayer* has benefited from this trend more than any other.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first movie in a new three-part series based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga. It quickly became a huge success, breaking records in Japan when it was released this summer. Now, after its release in the United States and around the world, the film has become the highest-grossing anime film ever made, surpassing all previous records.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Now Highest-Grossing Anime Film of All Time
I’ve been watching the numbers for *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle*, and it’s incredible! The film just surpassed $555 million worldwide, with around $451 million of that coming from overseas and $104 million domestically – adding another $36 million this past weekend. It was already doing great here in the US, and now it’s officially made film history. *Infinity Castle* is now the highest-grossing anime film ever, even beating out the previous record holder – *Demon Slayer: Mugen Train*!
Currently, *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle* leads the pack with $555 million USD in earnings. *Demon Slayer: Mugen Train* is close behind in second place with $506 million USD, and *Your Name* comes in third at $405 million USD. With the film still in theaters, its total earnings are expected to increase. This is particularly impressive, as two more *Demon Slayer* movies are still to come.
What Does This Mean for Demon Slayer’s Future?
I’ve been watching the success of the newest *Demon Slayer* movie, and it’s clear it’s made a real impact. That sets a pretty high bar for the remaining two films in the trilogy. There’s a lot of expectation riding on them to do even better, and it’s hard to say if they can keep up this incredible momentum. *Demon Slayer* is hugely popular right now, but I wonder if that will still be true when the final movie comes out.
While *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle* has been released, the dates for the next two films are still unknown. To maintain the series’ popularity, these films need to come out relatively soon. If there’s a two-year wait between each release, fans might lose interest, especially with so many new anime series competing for attention these days.
