After the huge popularity of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, everyone’s been eager to find out when the next two movies will be released. Sadly, the recent Jump Festa – a big event for anime fans – didn’t offer any new information about Tanjiro and the Hashira. However, a reliable source has unexpectedly revealed a potential release timeframe for the second and third parts of the movie trilogy, and it’s news that many fans might not be thrilled to hear.
A recent report from The Guardian details the financial success of Demon Slayer, particularly in 2025. While Infinity Castle was a major driver of revenue, the report also reveals that the second and third films in the trilogy are slated for release in 2027 and 2029, respectively. Given Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle‘s long runtime – over two and a half hours, roughly equivalent to five anime episodes – the studio, Ufotable, is likely taking its time to ensure a satisfying conclusion to the series. The first film earned over $700 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing anime film ever, and the upcoming sequels are expected to potentially surpass that record.
The Demon Slayers’ Success

Crunchyroll recently shared that a major anime release is coming soon. In an interview with the Guardian, Crunchyroll executive Mithcel Berger explained the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, noting that the COVID-19 pandemic introduced many new fans to anime. Berger said Crunchyroll had been building its fanbase for eight years, and that fanbase continued to grow even after the pandemic ended. Surprisingly, anime’s popularity has remained strong long after lockdowns lifted.
Currently, the titles for the next two Demon Slayer movies haven’t been announced, but fans of the manga have a good idea of what will happen. In the most recent arc, Zenitsu overcame his old rival, now a demon named Kaigaku, and Tanjiro defeated Akaza with crucial help from the Water Hashira. Sadly, not all the Hashira survived – Shinobu, the Insect Hashira, was killed by Doma. Motivated by revenge for her master’s death, Kanao Tsuyuri will likely play a key role in the next movie, facing off against the powerful demon. Adding to the danger, the main villain, Muzan, has demonstrated a significant increase in power, promising Tanjiro his toughest battle yet.
