The anime film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has become the highest-grossing anime film ever made, significantly exceeding the success of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train with massive box office earnings. Remarkably, almost six months after its release in Japan, the film is still being shown in theaters while fans eagerly await its release on home video. Later this month, Tanjiro and the Hashira will return to Japanese cinemas with a presentation of the Infinity Castle story that promises to be incredible.
I just heard that Ufotable is bringing Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle back to theaters next week, on February 20th! This time it’s being called the “Breathing Enhanced Version,” and it sounds like they’re really upgrading the experience with things like moving chairs and special environmental effects. Apparently, this new release will really focus on the characters’ breathing techniques – you’ll get a great look at how Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Giyo, and Shinobu use their powers while battling Muzan’s forces. It’s a shame to say that, as of right now, it doesn’t seem like it will be shown in North America, but with how popular Demon Slayer is, there’s still a possibility it could come here!
Demon Slayer’s Mysterious Future
Now that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has finished its theatrical run in North America, fans are eager to find out when it will be available to stream. As of today, there’s no news on a digital release date, which is unusual given that other anime movies, like Chainsaw Man the Movie: The Reze Arc, have already become available for digital purchase. Crunchyroll recently announced that Chainsaw Man will be streaming this spring, and many fans are hoping Demon Slayer will follow soon.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle kicks off a three-part movie series that will conclude the popular anime. While we don’t have many details about the next two films yet, there was recent speculation they’d be released in 2027 and 2029, but Crunchyroll has confirmed that’s not the plan. Given the huge success and profits of the previous Demon Slayer movie, it’s logical that the new films will arrive as soon as possible.
The Demon Slayer manga finished its run several years ago, bringing Tanjiro and Nezuko’s story to a definite conclusion. So far, the author, Koyoharu Gotouge, hasn’t announced any plans for sequels or spin-offs. Given the complete and satisfying ending, it would be understandable if the series didn’t continue, although its popularity suggests it could have a long future.
