Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the *Demon Slayer* manga. The first part of the *Infinity Castle* arc of *Demon Slayer* has just been released in U.S. theaters and is already a huge success! The movie kicks off the long-awaited battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons. Since Nezuko was able to withstand sunlight, Muzan has been collecting demons from all over Japan to find her, and has also instructed them to attack any Demon Slayers they encounter. Because demon attacks have been rare, the Corps was able to finish their Hashira Training. However, after Muzan discovered the Corps’ headquarters, he took the chance to trap them inside the Infinity Castle, planning to destroy them all.
Get ready for a series of brutal and emotionally charged battles. The first part of the final arc already shocked viewers with major character deaths, and sadly, there are even more difficult moments ahead. Last year, the animation studio announced they would adapt the final story in three parts. Many people believed this would include both the Infinity Castle and Sunrise Countdown arcs. However, after seeing the first installment, it now seems unlikely the trilogy will cover everything.
Demon Slayer Has Too Many Chapters Left to Adapt in Just Two Films

The story’s conclusion is split into two sections: the Infinity Castle Arc and the Sunrise Countdown Arc. The Infinity Castle Arc is quite long, consisting of 44 chapters, but only 17 of those were included in the first movie adaptation. While the animation is impressive and the action is exciting, the movie moves very quickly and leaves out important parts of the story. At 2 hours and 30 minutes long, it’s about the same length as the Infinity Train movie.

Here’s the interesting part: the Infinity Train movie only covered 13 chapters in its running time, and most people agree it flowed much better as a result. If the new movie had tried to include all 17 chapters with the same level of detail, it would have had to be almost three hours long – which isn’t realistic.
There are still 27 chapters of the Infinity Castle Arc left to cover, which is a good length for a movie. However, the Sunrise Countdown Arc has 22 chapters, and it’s probably too long to fit into the remaining films. This arc focuses on the remaining Demon Slayers as they risk everything to finally defeat Muzan Kibutsuji. With 22 chapters, it’s the most emotionally impactful part of the story, bringing the series to a poignant and bittersweet conclusion.
Should the Sunrise Countdown Arc Also Be Another Film?

Given the popularity of the first two movies, another anime film from Ufotable isn’t impossible. However, the story might actually be better suited for a weekly TV series. The first part of this story is amazing, but it feels like it would have been more impactful as a full season of episodes. The plot follows multiple characters battling demons and searching for Muzan within a large castle.
The initial section is packed with three big battles happening one after another, which makes it hard to build anticipation for what will happen next. It seems likely the rest of the story will be similar, as many characters haven’t had a chance to be involved in the action yet. While the Sunrise Countdown Arc could potentially make a better movie than the Infinity Castle arc, it would require at least two films to cover the whole story – or maybe a single, longer anime season would be a more suitable approach.
Things get much harder for the Demon Slayer Corps after the battle at Infinity Castle. They’re now up against Muzan, the strongest demon, and many of its members are already hurt and tired. Because Muzan can only be defeated by sunlight, it seems like an impossible fight. The final arc, focusing on the coming sunrise, is full of emotional scenes and suspense that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
I’m so excited! The first part of *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* is out in cinemas now, and it’s absolutely amazing on the big screen. If you need a refresher, or you’re new to the series, you can find the whole anime over on Crunchyroll and Netflix – definitely worth checking out!
