In 2022, animation studio Ufotable announced a partnership with gaming giant MiHoYo to create new anime series, including one based on either the popular game Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail. Recently, during a Genshin Impact event (as reported by @Rachii_Chan on X), a developer confirmed that the Genshin Impact anime is still in development and making consistent progress.
Genshin Impact Finally Gets an Update
I recently read an update from one of the combat designers for Genshin Impact, and it sounds like the long-awaited anime is finally moving forward. They assured fans that development is going smoothly – no major problems or delays. This is a relief after four years of waiting since the project was first announced with little progress. It’s good to hear that things are actively being worked on and that the anime is still in development.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle was the highest-grossing anime film of 2025, and with two more films planned, its success is expected to continue.
This studio has a proven track record of both financial success and satisfying dedicated fans. The upcoming Genshin Impact anime will face similar expectations, and a studio with experience handling that level of global attention is best equipped to create a successful adaptation.
