Ysbryd Games, the publisher, and Necrosoft Games, the developer, have moved back the release date of their school life strategy RPG game called “Demonschool” from September 3 to November 19. The reason given for this delay is that Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled to release on September 4, which could potentially cause conflicts in terms of attention and resources. Demonschool will be playable on various platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
Here is the full message from Ysbryd Games on the delay:
Originally planned for a September 3 release, we’ve decided with great deliberation to shift the launch date of “Demonschool” to Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Having clocked in 11 years as an independent publisher, Ysbryd Games has earned a fair bit of experience to assert that any given year in 2025 might well prove to be the toughest for game releases, given the intense market competition. Unfortunately, we’ve recently learned that Hollow Knight: Silksong will debut a day after our scheduled release for Demonschool, making the situation even more challenging.
Our primary focus should be on increasing visibility for Demonschool, so the Ysbryd team thinks it’s best not to get involved in situations that are obviously problematic. If September is Silksong’s time to shine, then we need to schedule Demonschool for another time on the calendar, giving it its own opportunity to be noticed and discussed significantly.
As a passionate gamer, I want you all to know that we’ve put a lot of thought into this decision. In the past, there have been delays with Demonschool and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. However, I assure you that this is it – no more delays after this point. We’ve already distributed Steam keys to critics as part of a fair review process, and our plan was to launch on September 3rd with pride. We understand that some fans have been eagerly waiting for the game and we hope they’ll forgive us for this final postponement.
Over the coming months, leading up to November, Necrosoft Games and I are eagerly working together to refine and optimize the gaming experience for you. Instead of saving additional endings and minigames as post-release patches, they’ll now be included in the game upon its release in November. So get ready for a richer, more immersive experience!
Appreciate your understanding and eagerness regarding the game, Demonschool. We really look forward to your ongoing support for Necrosoft Games as we eagerly anticipate your presence for Faye and her eccentric group of college demon hunters on November 19th!
