Derek Hough Reveals “Massive” Mother’s Day Gift for Hayley Erbert

Securing this Mother’s Day gift was no waltz in the park. 

Derek Hough shared the special surprise he had planned for his wife, Hayley Erbert, on Mother’s Day.

The couple, who have a 4-month-old daughter named Everley Capri Hough, fell in love with a lovely wooden table they saw at their baby shower last year. Derek decided to purchase it as a gift, hoping it would remind them of that special day forever.

He described it as incredibly large in a TikTok video posted on May 11th, saying it took seven people to carry it through his house.

Once the table was in place, the Dancing With the Stars judge had a group of people plant succulents directly on its surface. He explained that the plants were meant to represent life, growth, and resilience.

It was so special to share that table at Everley’s baby shower, and I can’t wait for the day Everley is old enough to sit there with all of us and enjoy it too. It just feels full circle, and I’m so excited for those future moments.

The actor from Nashville also posted a loving message to his wife on TikTok, writing, “I’m amazed by you more and more each day. Wishing you many more happy Mother’s Days with Everley and our family, which is getting bigger!”

Derek recently shared that becoming a father in February was unexpected, but a welcome surprise.

He explained to TopMob News on February 4th that growing up in Utah meant people typically married young, around 19, and started families shortly after, in their early twenties. He found it remarkable that, at 40, he was only now experiencing this part of life.

Although he became a father later in life, the dancer says it’s brought a renewed sense of purpose and joy to his life.

 

You know, going through a big change recently really made me reflect. It hit me – I’ve already lived a full life, and now I get this incredible opportunity to reinvent myself! It feels like a fresh start, a chance to approach things completely differently. And honestly? It’s brought so much more joy, purpose, and genuine excitement into my everyday life.
