The Praxic Blade is a new weapon available with the Renegades expansion in Destiny 2, but unlocking its full potential requires completing a quest and gathering all of its upgrades.
This weapon is essentially a lightsaber from Star Wars, making it incredibly fun to use in combat. However, unlocking it is challenging, as it requires completing a difficult mission.
Fret not, though! Our guide will help you get this weapon with ease!
How to Get The Praxic Blade – Mission Guide & All Upgrades | Destiny 2: Renegades

You can get the Praxic Blade by playing through the Renegades expansion’s story. You’ll specifically need to complete the “Fire and Ice” mission to earn it.

Initially, the objective is simple: move forward and eliminate all enemies in your path. The game presents a direct route, and your main focus should be on progressing while defeating every foe you encounter.
You’ll eventually find a room with a powerful boss called the Portal Keeper. Defeat the boss, and you can then use the portals in that room to continue your journey.

Okay, so this next part is a little challenging! You’ll find yourself in a room full of those Blight creatures. First thing’s first, you need to grab the Imbalanced Octant. Then, what you really want to do is jump up onto that tall pillar right in the middle of the room.
There’s an opening at the top of the pillar that lets you drop down to the next part of the mission. Go ahead and jump!
Once you jump down, you’ll find yourself outside facing a wall with moving bumpers that will try to knock you over. Here, you can also find a hidden entrance that will help you complete the mission much faster if you can access it.
We suggest watching the video to find the secret entrance. You’ll have to jump between ledges on the outside of the walls. Finding it lets you avoid a tricky jumping puzzle, saving you some time.
Back on the Main Path and Blights Puzzle
You should now be back on the main mission path. Unfortunately, no more detours! For this next part, follow the route created by the floating cubes while eliminating the Taken enemies you encounter.
Okay, so this part can be a little confusing to navigate, so seriously, just follow the path I showed in the video. It’ll lead you right to the terminal where you need to slot in the Imbalanced Octant. Once you do that, interact with it and a portal to the next area will open up!
Once you step through the portal, you’ll find yourself in a puzzle area. To continue, you’ll have to solve a balancing puzzle.
Essentially, you’ll defeat enemies to collect energy, then throw that energy into the correct Blights – the glowing orbs – around the arena. The type of energy you receive depends on how you defeat each enemy, and here’s how it works:
- Paired Energy – Kill two of the same enemy type consecutively. Throw this into a Light Blight.
- Opposite Energy – Kill two different enemy types consecutively. Throw this into a Dark Blight.
The arena has four energy points, called Blights – two light and two dark. To progress, you need to fill these Blights with energy, alternating between them to keep them balanced. Don’t put more than two energy units into any single Blight at once, or it will become unbalanced.

After successfully completing that step, all Blights and enemies will vanish. This will then let you interact with the altar in the arena’s center to calibrate the Octant to Balance, so be sure to do that.

Once you’ve completed this part, simply proceed through the designated portal to continue. Use the Balanced Octant that appears, and you’ll have finished this section!
Disciple of Harrow

You’ve reached the final stretch! There aren’t any more puzzles or complicated mazes. Simply follow the light leading to the door at the end of the Ascendant Plane. This time, the path is straightforward and direct.

Now, you’ll encounter the Disciple of Harrow boss. This fight is fairly typical, so just use your usual combat strategy.
Eventually, the boss will protect itself with a dark shield when it’s almost defeated – when it has only a quarter of its health remaining. To break this shield and win the fight, you’ll need to use the Dark Blights scattered around the arena!
It works just like before, which is good news. All you have to do is defeat two enemies of different types in a row to create Opposite Energy. Then, collect it and throw it at the Dark Blights scattered around the arena.
As a fan, I’ve found a really cool trick in the arena! You can actually use those Octants – those glowing things on the terminals at the very top of the floating platform – to make enemies appear. One of them will spawn Taken, and the others will bring in Imperium forces. It’s a perfect way to quickly get Opposite Energy, which is awesome!

Okay, so once I finally broke through the boss’s shield and took him down, I instantly got warped into this vault. There, in the middle of the room, was this altar, and that’s where I grabbed the Praxic Blade. Seriously, that’s it! I officially have this awesome Exotic blade now!
That covers the basic sword, but there are also some upgrades available. Let’s quickly review those now.

- Unlock: Find and destroy all 7 Taken Blights (Oddities) hidden in the Fire and Ice mission.
- Hyperblade – Amplifies you after you successfully reflect a projectile.
- Unlock: Reach the “Balance the Scales” section of the Fire and Ice mission.
- Instead of balancing the Blights, fill them up one at a time to spawn Imbalance Wardens. Defeat them to spawn a Catalyst of Imbalance. Defeat this boss and finish the mission to get the Catalyst.
- Upper Hand – Increases damage of thrown blade and reflected projectiles when you’re above your target.
- Unlock: Once you flip the Ascendant Plane in the Fire and Ice mission, backtrack to the start of the mission and destroy two new oddities there.
- Then, fill the two new Light Blights in the final boss’s arena and finish the fight to get the Catalyst.
Now you’ve got the basics on how to earn the Praxic Blade and its upgrades in Destiny 2: Renegades! We hope you enjoy using this cool, lightsaber-like weapon.
