Don’t be silly—everyone wants a look at The Devil Wears Prada 2.
On February 1st, while the Grammy Awards celebrated top musicians, fans of film got a preview of the upcoming sequel to a beloved movie. The trailer revealed that Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all returning for the new installment.
The trailer for the upcoming movie, releasing May 1st, shows Andy Sachs (played by Anne) has transformed from the shy assistant to the influential Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl). However, when they meet again, Miranda, the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, seems to have momentarily forgotten who Andy is.
“Excuse me, who is this?” she asked Nigel Kipling, her close friend, in a preview clip. She then questioned, “Do you recognize her? Do I?”
Emily Charlton, who used to compete with Andy, definitely noticed her, but couldn’t resist making a slightly snide remark.
Emily noticed a positive change in the person, saying, “You’ve really become more confident!” Then, with a playful tone, she added, “But I see you haven’t changed your eyebrows!”
Everyone is looking forward to the sequel to the 2006 comedy, not just the fans. The actors were also excited to revisit their characters and see what they’ve been doing over the past twenty years.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Anne Hathaway explained that almost everyone from the original movie who could return participated in the sequel. This gave the team a strong understanding and respect for the film’s history over the past two decades. A new cast member playfully described the atmosphere as ‘Gay Christmas.’
Oh my gosh, you guys, this movie is AMAZING because it brings Emily and Stanley back together on screen! It’s so special because, like, Stanley actually married Emily’s sister, Felicity Blunt, back in 2012 – remember when they were in Lovely Bones? It’s just… a full-circle moment for a huge fan like me!
Being on set felt incredibly comfortable, like returning home, especially with Stanley Tucci around – he’s become a central part of the experience for me,” Emily shared. “This film has brought us all together in a really special way.”
Meryl Streep expressed her excitement about reuniting with her costars, comparing the experience to rediscovering an old, cherished item and wondering if it still felt right.
