Dexter: Original Sin fan petition picks up steam following shock cancellation

A request for Showtime and Paramount to prevent the cancelation of Dexter: Original Sin is picking up steam.

The original Dexter series’ predecessor, titled Original Sin, made its debut earlier this year to positive feedback from both critics and viewers, with plans initially in place for a second season renewal.

It wasn’t unexpected then, that the fans were taken aback when it emerged just a few short months later that Paramount had opted against renewing the series for further episodes.

Upon hearing the news, a fan petition emerged on Change.org, aiming to collect signatures in an effort to prevent the cancellation of Dexter: Original Sin.

The petition addressed to the executives responsible for decision-making within the network, expresses that the show is an engaging series which has regrettably and unfairly been terminated.

Over the past fortnight, the petition has accumulated close to 80,000 signatures from fans worldwide, and thousands more are still adding their names every day.

Among the two Dexter spin-offs that premiered this year, one of them was titled Original Sin, while the other was Dexter: Resurrection and made its debut as well.

Unlike Original Sin, where its continuation or end has already been determined, the outcome regarding Resurrection remains uncertain, as neither a termination nor renewal has been declared yet.

It appears that the petition shows a significant amount of backing for Original Sin, but it remains uncertain if it will hold much influence on the outcome of the show.

A comparable appeal regarding Amazon Prime Video’s decision to discontinue The Wheel of Time amassed more than 220,000 signatures, despite the show not having been renewed for a fourth season as of now.

Despite the idea of Original Sin being considered outdated or discarded like some of Dexter’s victims, it appears that actor Patrick Gibson is still very much alive and active.

The Irish actor, known for his work on television and film, is set to expand his repertoire by playing a young version of James Bond in the upcoming video game adaptation titled “007 First Light.
