The cast of “Dexter: Original Sin” were disheartened when the spinoff series was suddenly terminated following a renewal for Season 2, but this doesn’t mean they’re giving up without trying. Notably, Alex Shimizu, who played Masuka, has joined fans in promoting a petition to keep the series alive. His recent video features James Martinez, the new Batista, and it’s great to see these two actors reunited again.
Shortly following the popularity of his dance video, Alex Shimizu is once more active, making efforts to potentially revive Dexter: Original Sin. In his most recent video, he even incorporated a classic Masuka gesture, leaving me in stitches with laughter.
Alex Shimizu And James Martinez Post A Message Of Support For The Petition
In the new video, Alex Shimizu and James Martinez draw acclaim for their impressive resemblance to the original Dexter cast members. They capitalized on this in their performance, with Shimizu embodying Masuka’s iconic laugh and Martinez donning Batista’s smooth demeanor and even his signature hat – a faithful recreation worth checking out below.

These aspects are merely a few among many that made me fall head over heels for Dexter: Original Sin, yet there’s much more to admire. In my opinion, what truly sets this series apart is its authentic portrayal of Dexter Morgan as he grapples with understanding Harry’s Code and perfecting his skills as a serial killer. I eagerly await the chance to see the younger versions of our favorite characters before they transformed into who we came to know in Dexter. Here’s hoping that the series finds a way to stay on track.
Can A Fan Petition Save Dexter: Original Sin?
Currently, the petition aimed at reviving “Dexter: Original Sin” has accumulated over 43,000 signatures and continues to grow. This is a thousand more than when I started writing this piece, indicating it might hit 50,000 signatures by Friday. There’s a strong interest among fans for the spinoff’s return, but the question remains whether this enthusiasm will be sufficient to secure another season for the show.

Dexter has already welcomed back several beloved characters from the original series, but there’s one iconic figure I really hope will make an appearance in season 2.
It’s challenging to predict such situations, but it appears that fan campaigns are less effective now than they used to be in reviving canceled shows like Lucifer or influencing streaming services to acquire series like Star Trek: Prodigy. This could be due to executives having fresh insights into online presence and engagement, or other factors leading to a growing reluctance among them to reverse decisions based solely on internet sentiment.
Besides this, it appears that the decision to cancel Original Sin might be linked to the success of Dexter: Resurrection. According to Variety, Skydance and Paramount were planning to establish a writers’ room for the following season of the continuation, with a strong emphasis on Michael C. Hall’s portrayal of the character. Although it isn’t explicitly mentioned, it seems that they aim to prioritize just one Dexter story moving forward.
In essence, streaming platforms highly value subscribers and viewership. If fans keep expressing interest in Dexter: Original Sin, potentially leading others to subscribe to Paramount+ to catch it, one might guess that it could make a comeback. For now, all we can do is wait and observe, and enjoy the prequel while we’re at it!
Dexter: Original Sin is now streaming on Paramount+, open for those who want to give it a try! Meanwhile, I’m excitedly waiting to catch up with Dexter: Resurrection as fresh episodes drop every Friday, leading us towards what seems like an intense finale.
