Dexter: Resurrection’s Latest Death Doesn’t Fix Anything for Dexter

“In the latest episode of Dexter: Resurrection, a death that may not bring redemption for Dexter is revealed. As a long-time admirer, I’ve seen this masterful serial killer claim countless lives over the past three decades, often at great personal cost. Yet, despite his destructive habits and the loss of loved ones like his wife, sister, and friends, he continues down the path of vigilantism. Each life he takes only seems to push him further into chaos. His attempts to quit have only worsened his situation, leaving him in a vicious cycle.”

So far, Dexter’s world in “Dexter: Resurrection” has surprisingly run quite smoothly despite a few hurdles along the way. For instance, his son is reconnecting with him, and their bond is growing stronger day by day. Additionally, Dexter is back to taking down criminals, and he’s skillfully kept the NYPD from suspecting him for the most part. However, there’s one factor that fans have anticipated could create trouble: Batista. Ever since the end of “Dexter: New Blood,” Batista has been probing into Dexter’s activities, and the storyline leading to their ultimate confrontation has been developing steadily over several episodes.

Angel Batista’s Death Could Create Major Issues in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

In “Dexter: Resurrection,” Episode 9 titled “Touched by an Angel,” my heart raced as the long-standing tension between Dexter and Batista reached its boiling point. After years of camaraderie, their friendship turned sour when Batista tried to save Leon Prater from becoming the Bay Harbor Butcher’s next victim. However, his well-intentioned warning only led Prater to lure Batista into a trap, setting him up in his vault for Dexter.

Feeling cornered with no other options, I found myself standing over Batista, my blade poised for action. Yet, the old bond between us tugged at my heartstrings and instead of striking, I made the choice to free him. My hope was that we could work together to bring down Prater and his accomplice, Charlie, once and for all.

But as fate would have it, things didn’t go according to plan. Batista was gunned down by Prater before he even had a chance to react, leaving me locked away in the vault. The echoes of Batista’s final breath still haunt me. The once invincible Dexter is now more vulnerable than ever, and I can only wonder if this might be the end of my dark passenger’s reign.

Absolutely, Dexter feels deeply saddened that an upright individual like Angel Batista got entangled in the chaos, yet some viewers might view this as a resolution to the ongoing predicament. Regrettably, it serves more to complicate matters than resolve them. To begin with, Batista has been meticulously documenting evidence, patterns, and discoveries related to his case against Dexter using voice memos. His hotel room is adorned with photographs, maps, and papers concerning this matter as well. Whether Dexter manages to dispose of Batista’s remains or frames Prater for the crime is yet to be determined, but it’s safe to say that his death/disappearance won’t go unnoticed. Either Detective Wallace will delve into the mystery and set up her motivations for the next season, or this could pave the way for Joey Quinn to take on a significant role in “Dexter: Resurrection”.

In the event that Batista’s phone gets damaged, his recordings might be saved on a computer at Batista’s hotel, along with other pieces of physical evidence that are currently undiscovered or unreachable for Dexter. Regrettably, Batista’s demise may not bring resolution to the issue in Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection, but instead could lead to more complications for Dexter. This predicament seems especially challenging for him and could potentially place him in a difficult position from which he can’t escape in subsequent seasons.

Currently, the creators have planned out three seasons of “Dexter: Resurrection,” with potential for more. Considering that Dexter has been killed and let off the hook in various endings, wouldn’t it be surprising if he ended up behind bars? Might this prison stint provide a fitting conclusion after so many years? It’s hard to predict, but it seems likely that Dexter will face legal troubles again in future episodes.
