Diane Keaton has died aged 79, it has been confirmed by People magazine.
The celebrated actress passed away in California, according to reports. Her family has requested privacy and has not yet released further information.
Keaton was a hugely popular film star for over fifty years. She won many awards, including an Oscar, a BAFTA, and Golden Globes, and was also nominated for an Emmy and a Tony.

The news of Diane Keaton’s passing has surprised and saddened people worldwide, especially in Hollywood. She’s best remembered for her iconic performance in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 film, *The Godfather*, alongside Al Pacino, and she later returned to play the same character in the sequels.
Diane Keaton often worked with director Woody Allen, appearing in films like ‘Play It Again, Sam,’ ‘Sleeper,’ and ‘Love and Death.’ She won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in their fourth collaboration, ‘Annie Hall.’
She became a well-known actress in many popular movies, such as Baby Boom, the Father of the Bride series, The First Wives Club, Book Club, Finding Dory, Manhattan Murder Mystery, and The Family Stone.
I was so thrilled to see Keaton in both ‘Arthur’s Whiskey’ from 2024 and, sadly, ‘Summer Camp,’ which turned out to be her last movie role. It’s a bit bittersweet, but I’ll always cherish seeing her on screen.
Keaton is survived by her two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke.
