Noah Schnapp briefly turned his fans’ brains upside down.
The Stranger Things actor seemingly revealed a new relationship on April 1st. He shared a photo on Instagram of himself with another man watching a sunset and embracing, with the caption “one month of us” and a heart emoji.
Just hours after the initial post, Schapp, 21, clarified his connection to the man in the photo. He jokingly revealed it was an April Fool’s prank in an Instagram Story on April 2nd, adding a kissing emoji.
Before Noah Schnapp publicly acknowledged his relationship, fans were excited about hints he’d dropped and wanted to know who the person in his Instagram Story was. On a recent post with his sister Chloe Schnapp, fans flooded the comments asking about his love life, with one writing, “Who is the person in your Story, Noah?” and another expressing their happiness that he’d found someone special.
However, many people noticed the odd timing of his announcement, and one person jokingly wondered if it was an April Fool’s Day prank, saying, “Happy for Noah, but… April 1st? That’s interesting.”
Since publicly coming out as gay in 2023, Noah Schnapp has generally kept his personal life private. However, he did share a funny story about coming out on TikTok, where he revealed that when he finally told his friends and family, they simply responded, ‘We know.’ He was 18 years old at the time and starred in The Peanuts Movie.
The latest season of Stranger Things, which ended last December, felt very real, and Noah Schnapp has revealed some of that authenticity came from his own life. He drew on his personal experiences when portraying Will Byers’ heartfelt conversation with his mother, Joyce (Winona Ryder), and friends, where Will comes to terms with his feelings. Importantly, Will doesn’t explicitly state he’s gay, but rather shares, “I don’t like girls.”

Noah Schnapp explained that while the way he came out was influenced by the 1980s Indiana setting of Stranger Things, he found it difficult to explicitly label his sexuality. He told Variety in December that saying he was gay felt “hard, and it feels scary.”
He explained that when Will first realized and talked about it with his friends, he was likely hesitant to use a specific word, but there’s no reason to be. Will probably just felt more comfortable expressing it in a different way at that moment.

Oh my gosh, when Will was figuring things out with his friends, it was SO clear he was hesitant to even say the word, you know? But honestly, it wasn’t a bad thing at all! He just needed to find the right way to express himself, and that’s what he did. It was so relatable and real, and I totally understood why he phrased it like that. It felt so authentic!

Noah Schnapp generally keeps his romantic life private, but he’s very open about how close he is to his Stranger Things colleagues, especially Millie Bobby Brown. Their bond is so strong that Schnapp is the godfather to Brown’s daughter, whose father is Jake Bongiovi.
Noah Schnapp told TopMob News last November that the people he works with are like family. He explained that their connection goes beyond just working together, and he truly believes they’ll remain friends for life.
