Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2 Are Now Available on Steam, Priced at $9.99 Each

Capcom hasn’t announced a new Dino Crisis game, but they are working to keep the original titles available. The first two Dino Crisis games are now on Steam, having previously been available only through GOG as part of their efforts to preserve older games.

Capcom has re-released Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 with updated compatibility for today’s computers and controllers, but the gameplay itself remains unchanged. Each game costs $9.99, and is currently on sale for half price. The updates are primarily technical, including a new graphics renderer and expanded video options like V-Sync and anti-aliasing.

Originally released in 1999, Dino Crisis was built using the same game engine as the first two Resident Evil titles. Instead of zombies, this game features dinosaurs as the primary danger. Players take on the role of Regina, who is sent on a secret mission to investigate a facility that appears to have been taken over by these prehistoric creatures.

Released in 2000, Dino Crisis 2 continued the story with a fresh twist – sending players back to the Cretaceous Period. The game once again starred Regina and featured better action and level design compared to the first Dino Crisis.

The GOG releases of both Dino Crisis games, which came out in January of last year, included several improvements like language options and an Easy difficulty setting.

Back in August 2025, a rumor surfaced suggesting Capcom was exploring a revival of the Dino Crisis series. However, according to reports from reliable leaker AestheticGamer, Capcom has cancelled two Dino Crisis projects in the past, and is still trying to determine the best path forward for the franchise.

AestheticGamer shared on social media that they’re hoping Capcom will decide on a clear direction for the Dino Crisis franchise. According to AestheticGamer, there have been at least two attempts to remake the game in the last ten years. The first was by Capcom Vancouver before the studio closed, and AestheticGamer still possesses some leaked materials from that project. A second attempt a few years ago was ultimately cancelled because it wasn’t progressing well. They expressed hope that Capcom will eventually develop a successful prototype for a new Dino Crisis game.

As a long-time fan, it’s great to see Capcom still making Resident Evil games, even with Resident Evil Requiem on the way. But it really makes me sad that they’ve pretty much forgotten about Dino Crisis. The last game, Dino Crisis 3, came out way back in 2003, and it’s still only playable on the original Xbox – they haven’t even bothered to bring it to other consoles or PC!
