After a delay last year, Supermassive Games’ sci-fi horror game, Directive 8020, will be released on May 12th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A new trailer offers a glimpse of the frightening decisions players will have to make.
Okay, so pre-orders are up now on PlayStation and Xbox, and here’s a sweet deal: if you pre-order, you automatically get the Digital Deluxe Edition for free! It comes with a bunch of cool stuff like outfits inspired by the other Dark Pictures games. Plus, you can change how the game looks with some cool filters – think black and white or super high contrast. There are also three digital figurines you can collect in the game. Oh, and you also get the digital artbook and soundtrack, which is awesome for any fan!
If you haven’t been following it, Directive 8020 is a science fiction horror story centered around the crew of the Cassiopeia. They encounter a shape-shifting alien creature, and the remaining crew members must figure out who is still human and trick it to survive. As the trailer shows, you might even encounter copies of the same person, like with the character Young, played by Lashana Lynch.
This game offers more freedom than previous installments. You can now avoid fights by sneaking, use a Scanner to interact with technology, and communicate with teammates through the Messenger. The Wedge Tool lets you open doors or briefly disable enemies. Just remember that every choice you make affects the story, leading to different outcomes and even character deaths. Don’t worry too much, though – if things go badly, you can always try again.
