Bandai Namco is one of the few publishers letting Sony use its older games through emulation, but unfortunately, those games don’t include PlayStation Trophies.
The critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 fighting game, SoulCalibur 3, has been re-released on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 with improved visuals. While often remembered as being just behind the previous game in the series, it’s still an excellent title. However, like other recent re-releases, it doesn’t include any unlockable trophies or achievements.
The release is included with PS Plus Premium, or can be purchased a la carte for £7.99/$9.99.
This release is excellent, offering a ton of single-player content – even a full real-time strategy mode called Chronicles of the Sword. It’s a really great game with so much to explore and enjoy.
I was really impressed with how smoothly this game runs on my PS5 – it consistently hit 60fps, which is awesome. And honestly, the graphics don’t look too dated, even though it’s an older title. We haven’t had a chance to test it on PS4 yet, though.
I’ve noticed Sony has been adding Trophies to some of their older games, which is awesome! It’s got me hoping Bandai Namco will do the same thing with their retro titles – that would be so cool!
We think SoulCalibur 3 is great as it is, but adding Trophies would make it even better.
