Although a new animated show is now part of Disney’s collection, not all shows are destined for long-term success. For instance, shows such as “Primos”, “Tiana”, and “Hailey On It!” have been canceled by Disney, with another current series hanging in the balance. A Disney animator has recently shared on social media that their show called “StuGo” – which premiered earlier this year and was created by Ryan Gillis – may be of interest if you’re a fan of mad scientist-themed series.
Gillis announced on his BlueSky platform that StuGo hasn’t been canceled, however, no work has started on a second season. Ryan clarified that the show is “Not cancelled yet! Not in production either! Just waiting for viewership numbers before making a decision.” This doesn’t guarantee the summer camp-themed series will avoid cancellation altogether, but it currently enjoys a brief stay of execution from Disney. Luckily, you can stream the series and lend your support on Disney+.
The decision hasn’t been made yet! It’s neither cancelled nor in production at this moment. We’re just keeping an eye on the ratings before making a call. Either way, your interest and support are greatly appreciated!

Why StuGo is Worth Watching
If you’re curious about StuGo, Disney describes it as a unique animated series that premiered in early January this year. In the show, six middle schoolers are deceived into attending a seemingly academic summer camp by a eccentric scientist. What initially appears to be three months of learning turns out to be an extraordinary adventure on a tropical island inhabited by manatees with mind-reading abilities, colossal combat fungi, and stylish mutants.
In case you’re an animation aficionado, you might recognize some of the actors in the voice cast for this show. As of now, the cast for StuGo includes Tania Gunadi as Pliny, Zosia Mamet as Merian, Zach Reino as Chip, Gabourey Sidibe as Francis, Lo Mutuc (previously known as Charlyne Yi) as Larry, Deborah Baker Jr. as Sara, Lorraine Toussaint as Dr. Lullah, and Jake Green as Mr. Okay. Interestingly enough, the show first aired on the Disney Channel in January, but didn’t arrive on Disney+ until July 30th.
As I stand alongside Ryan Gillis in the bustling world of StuGo, I can’t help but marvel at the extraordinary talent we possess, perched as we are right at the pinnacle of the entertainment industry. Sunil Hall, our Co-Executive Producer, is a household name, famed for his integral role in crafting the captivating universe of Gravity Falls. On the other hand, Craig Lewis, our story editor, boasts an impressive portfolio in the realm of animation, having worked on beloved shows such as Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, The Powerpuff Girls, and Adventure Time. With the first season concluding in a cliffhanger, it seems there are numerous intriguing narrative paths for StuGo to delve into should we be granted the opportunity to continue our journey with a second season. I’m genuinely excited about the possibilities!
Hey there fellow anime lovers! Curious about whether Studio G will grace our screens with a second season, or if it’s destined to be a one-hit wonder?
