Even though 2026 is just starting, Marvel is already announcing new content for Disney+. Marvel Studios is planning a big year with both Disney+ shows and theatrical releases, and these projects are expected to significantly impact the overall Marvel storyline.
On January 10, 2026, Disney+ added new episodes of Spidey and His Amazing Friends Season 4, bringing the season’s total to 19 episodes. These episodes continue the “Water-Webs” story arc that’s been unfolding throughout part of Season 4.

In the “Water-Webs” storyline, Spider-Man teams up with Ghost-Spider (Gwen Stacy) and Spin (Miles Morales). They all gain water-themed powers and wear pirate costumes while protecting people from danger.

Disney+’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends has been a big hit, likely because Spider-Man is such a well-loved hero. The cartoon offers a fun, younger-focused take on the character compared to some of the live-action movies and shows. It’s proven popular enough to be renewed for a fifth season, meaning viewers can look forward to even more adventures with Team Spidey!
Marvel’s 2026 Disney+ Slate and How It Will Affect Existing Disney+ Projects
While Spidey and His Amazing Friends is coming to Disney+ in 2026, it’s not the only Marvel show arriving then – or even in January. In just a few weeks, the live-action series Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, will debut. This show offers a humorous take on superheroes and introduces a new character, Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, to the Marvel universe.
Following its initial release, a second season of Daredevil: Born Again is coming, featuring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock fighting against Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, who is now the mayor of New York City. The first season was a big hit, and the second is shaping up to be even more exciting with the first appearance of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ritter previously played Jessica Jones in the Marvel series on Netflix.
With the upcoming release of Born Again Season 2, many viewers are expected to discover or revisit Season 1. As promotion for the new season increases, people will likely watch Season 1 to get ready for it. Because Season 2 will prominently feature Wilson Fisk, we might also see increased interest in shows like Hawkeye and Echo, which provide important background on his character.
Marvel fans can look forward to the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in 2026. Similar to Spidey and His Amazing Friends, this is an animated series focusing on Spider-Man. The first season established Peter Parker’s origin story and his initial adventures as Spider-Man. Season 2 will build on those stories, introduce fresh villains, and raise the stakes even higher.
While Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a separate show on Disney+, it might still influence how many people watch other animated series like X-Men ’97. Because both shows are on the same streaming service, viewers could see them as similar and choose one over the other.

In 2026, Disney+ will release VisionQuest, a new series continuing the story of Vision (played by Paul Bettany) after the events of WandaVision. The show will follow Vision as he explores his identity following his split in WandaVision, and will also bring back James Spader as Ultron.
With the upcoming release of VisionQuest, we expect to see more people revisiting WandaVision and Agatha All Along on Disney+. The new show’s connection to Ultron will also likely drive viewers to rewatch Avengers: Age of Ultron.
As a huge fan of these characters, I was really excited to hear that Jon Bernthal is returning as the Punisher! It won’t be a full TV series, but Disney+ is planning a special presentation in 2026, which sounds awesome. From what I’ve gathered, the main villain will be Ma Gnucci. Apparently, this Punisher special is meant to build buzz for the Daredevil: Born Again series, since Frank Castle appeared in that show. But don’t get your hopes up for seeing him in season two of Born Again – it doesn’t sound like that’s going to happen.
As a huge animation fan, I’m thrilled to hear both Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and X-Men ’97 are getting second seasons in 2026! X-Men ’97 really blew everyone away when it dropped on Disney+, so it was pretty obvious Marvel was going to keep that series going. It’s fantastic news all around!
At the end of Season 1, the X-Men were scattered throughout different time periods, with some traveling to the future and others to the past. The season also showed a young Apocalypse, hinting that he will be the primary antagonist in Season 2.
In addition to its TV series, Marvel Studios plans to release the films Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday in 2026. These movies are predicted to be very successful and play a significant role in the future of the Marvel franchise, and they might also impact how many people watch shows on Disney+.
When Brand New Day came out, it was expected that more people would start watching Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man because it also features Peter Parker. Since Brand New Day also heavily features characters like the Punisher and Hulk, we’d likely see an increase in viewers for shows like Daredevil: Born Again and She-Hulk as well.
The new series, Avengers: Doomsday, will likely encourage viewers to revisit existing Disney+ shows, especially Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Since Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, is central to Doomsday‘s plot, and the events of his own series directly influence the new story, fans might need to rewatch Loki to fully understand his involvement.
Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) will all have important roles in the upcoming Doomsday story. Because these characters underwent significant development in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the release of Doomsday could encourage more people to watch that series.
