As a longtime MCU fan, I’m really excited about a new Disney+ series that looks like it’s finally going to deliver on those hints of a fresh superteam we’ve been getting for the last five years. And things are about to get HUGE for Marvel on the big screen! 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year, kicking off with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July, and then wrapping up with what sounds like an epic Avengers: Doomsday movie in December. Seriously, mark your calendars!
Following The Kang Dynasty, Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to come out a year later and could significantly reshape the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These upcoming films mark a major turning point, effectively concluding the Multiverse Saga. However, even with these blockbuster movies on the horizon, several Marvel shows on Disney+ still have yet to premiere.
A new show is planned for late 2026 that will likely fulfill the promise of the Young Avengers, a superhero team Marvel has been building up for the past five years.
Vision Quest Will Reintroduce A Major Young Avenger
The new show, Vision Quest, is essentially a follow-up to WandaVision. It will center on White Vision as he tries to rediscover what it means to be human. A key part of his journey will involve connecting with his son, Tommy Maximoff, who will be played by Ruaridh Mollica.
The show Agatha All Along revealed that when Wanda’s reality was destroyed, the spirits of her twin sons were reborn into new bodies. Billy Maximoff’s spirit went into the body of William Kaplan, and the finale hinted that Tommy experienced the same. The upcoming Vision Quest series will confirm this, bringing back Tommy Shepherd, also known as Speed.
I’m so excited! With Speed joining the cast of Vision Quest, it feels like Marvel is finally setting up the Young Avengers team we’ve all been hoping for. It’s awesome that they’re officially bringing this character into the MCU!
The Young Avengers Have Been Teased Several Times In The MCU
The idea of a Young Avengers team has been a long-awaited project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans have become increasingly impatient. Hints about the team first appeared in the Disney+ series WandaVision in 2021, when Wanda Maximoff’s children and their abilities were revealed. Subsequent Disney+ shows continued to suggest potential members, building anticipation for the team’s formation.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been hinting at a future Young Avengers team for a while now, with appearances by characters like Eli Bradley in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a young Loki variant in Loki, Skaar in She-Hulk, and a spotlight on movie characters like America Chavez and Kamala Khan. However, these were mostly just subtle clues and references, suggesting possibilities for the future rather than confirming a team-up.
The seeds for a Young Avengers team were planted at the end of the movie The Marvels, when Kamala Khan mentioned to Kate Bishop that she was starting to assemble one. However, since that moment, Marvel hasn’t followed up on this idea with any new developments in the MCU.
Vision Quest Finalizing The Young Avengers Is Thematically Resonant
However, the upcoming show Vision Quest has the potential to move things forward. It’s likely to center around Tommy Shepherd, following Billy’s journey to find his brother at the end of Agatha All Along. If they reconnect in Vision Quest, it would bring the Young Avengers closer to becoming a reality in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If Vision Quest does indeed bring the Young Avengers together, it would be a fitting end to years of hints and build-up. WandaVision first introduced the idea of these characters with Tommy and Billy, and since Vision Quest is intended to wrap up the storyline that began there, it would be great to see it officially establish the team that was originally hinted at.
This would also resolve the hints dropped in the Agatha All Along series. The first part introduced the characters, the second prepared them for a possible reunion, and the final installment could bring them back together. This would then allow Billy and Tommy to finally join the Young Avengers, paying off years of careful planning and foreshadowing.
thanks to Vision Quest‘s story.
