Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of the Punisher, Frank Castle, has featured a few different versions of his signature look. During his time on Netflix in both The Punisher and Daredevil, he wore a practical costume with a bulletproof vest, ammo belt, and holsters. When the character reappeared in the first season of the MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again, his costume was similar enough to the Netflix version to maintain a sense of continuity.
A recent preview for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again gave fans a first look at Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, in his upcoming Disney+ special, The Punisher: One Last Kill. The brief clip showcases a new suit design for the character, which is noticeably different from his appearance in the first season of Born Again and what’s been revealed of his look in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The “One Last Kill” suit resembles the one from “Born Again,” but has some key changes. It’s entirely black and includes extra padding, along with a newly designed skull logo on the vest.

The new skull design is sleeker and more colorful than the worn one from Season 1 of Born Again. Jon Bernthal’s character also has a full beard and is now wearing black tactical gloves, which weren’t part of his original costume.

The equipment shown is quite different from what was previewed in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailers. The skull logo on the Brand New Day vest isn’t boldly displayed; instead, it’s subtly integrated into the design of the ammo pouches on a very military-style vest. The skull is present, but much more understated.

Just so you know, Brand New Day takes place after the One Last Kill Disney+ special, which is why Frank gets a new costume.
You can get a first glimpse of ‘Punisher: One Last Kill’ at the very end of the new trailer for Season 2 of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. See it below.
What to Expect From The Punisher: One Last Kill
Frank’s redesigned approach introduces fresh challenges. The story of The Punisher: One Last Kill shows Frank discovering a purpose beyond vengeance, but a new threat forces him to return to his violent ways.
Many fans think the new villain will be Isabella “Ma” Gnucci, the cold-hearted head of the Gnucci Crime Family. Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon in a 2000 issue of The Punisher, her family briefly appeared in the first season of the Netflix Punisher series. However, Gnucci herself hasn’t been seen in live-action within the Marvel Cinematic Universe – until now, perhaps. Photos taken on set last year indicate she’ll be using a wheelchair.
The show features a strong cast, including Jason R. Moore reprising his role as Curtis Hoyle, a key character from the show’s Netflix days. Reinaldo Marcus Green directs, having co-written the script with Jon Bernthal. Green and Bernthal previously collaborated on King Richard and We Own This City, giving them a well-established working relationship and shared creative vision.
This special episode will be about an hour long and will launch shortly after the season finale of Daredevil: Born Again. It takes place at the same time as season two, explaining why the Punisher isn’t involved in Daredevil’s story. Frank Castle is occupied with his own conflict – a gritty and violent one. The project has received an R rating, meaning it will feature intense violence fitting for the Punisher’s character.
