Disney’s Power Rangers Rival Finally Debuts (And Gives Fans Possible Glimpse of Franchise’s Future)

Power Rangers fans are eager for a new series or movie, and while they’ll have to wait, Disney has something in the works. Disney is involved with the next Power Rangers project, but they’re also launching a new show that feels like a Power Rangers competitor. Many believe this new series could offer a preview of what a future Power Rangers reboot might look like.

I was really excited when I heard about the new show, *Armorsaurs*, a collaboration between MGA Entertainment and Disney! It didn’t take long for people to start pointing out how similar it is to classics like *Power Rangers* and *Dino-Riders* – and honestly, I see it too. From the music to the overall look and even the way the action and humor are done, it feels very reminiscent of those shows. As a longtime *Power Rangers* fan, I’m actually kind of intrigued because this could give us a hint of what a future reboot might look like!

Armorsaurs Feels Like a Spiritual Successor to Power Rangers Without Sentai

I’m so excited about this new show! It follows five people who have this amazing gene – it lets them actually talk to dinosaurs! Turns out that’s really important because there’s this dangerous mercenary, Switchblade, who they’re going to have to face. We quickly meet the dinosaurs they’re working with, and while it’s cool, getting along isn’t always easy at first.

The dinosaurs in this show aren’t just mounts – they seem to pick their riders, which is why we see new, high-tech suits. These aren’t typical costumes, though; they look like armored, computer-generated designs. Expect plenty of dinosaur battles, with each dinosaur getting its own unique armor and weapons when it transforms, all balanced with a fun and lighthearted tone.

It’s clear that *Armorsaurs* takes a lot of inspiration from *Power Rangers*. While it’s a bit more serious in tone than older *Power Rangers* seasons, it feels similar to more recent entries like *Cosmic Fury*. The fight scenes are more realistic, although they don’t have the same visual flair as *Power Rangers*. This is a little unexpected considering the costumes aren’t as reliant on traditional practical effects, but it could suggest a new direction for the series.

Throughout its history, *Power Rangers* has almost always used spandex costumes, occasionally adding armor upgrades during a season. The 2017 *Power Rangers* reboot was the only major exception. *Armorsaurs* tries something different, and while the suits look great when the team is standing still, the movements appear a little stiff. The Rangers also sometimes feel disconnected from their surroundings – not because of the colors, but because they don’t quite seem to *fit* into the environment.

The dinosaur fight scenes are truly spectacular. While dinosaurs have appeared in previous seasons, *Armorsaurs* does a fantastic job of integrating them into the plot, making them just as central – or even more so – than the human characters. It would be amazing to see this approach in the *Power Rangers* reboot, assuming the rest of the story is strong and whether it closely follows *Mighty Morphin* or takes a different direction.

The latest reboot, *Armorsaurs*, seems to be taking a more realistic approach, and that could influence future *Power Rangers* series. While *Armorsaurs* is still quite fantastical, it’s a good sign for what we might see when *Power Rangers* returns. Thankfully, the show’s theme song still captures the classic *Power Rangers* feel, and we hope it stays that way – it’s fantastic!
