Disney’s Tangled live-action remake finally casts actors to play Rapunzel and Flynn Rider

Disney continues to remake its classic animated movies into live-action films, and they’ve just announced who will star in the upcoming live-action version of Tangled.

Following months of rumors and fan suggestions, it’s now official: Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim will star as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

Australian actress Teagan Croft is known for her roles in both film and television. She previously appeared in the Netflix movie True Spirit and played Raven in the DC series Titans, which aired from 2018 to 2023.

Trevor Manheim is well-known for playing Zed in the Disney Channel’s Zombies musical series. He also competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2018, where he finished as the runner-up at just 17 years old.

This is the most significant role yet for both actors, and it will be fascinating to see if this popular project helps launch them into even bigger opportunities.

So far, the cast for the upcoming Tangled series hasn’t been expanded, but Michael Gracey, known for directing Better Man and The Greatest Showman, will direct. The focus now is on finding an actress to play the villain, Mother Gothel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Disney’s Tangled, a musical version of the Rapunzel story, came out in 2010 and quickly became a fan favorite. Songs from the movie, like “I’ve Got a Dream” and “I See the Light,” were particularly popular.

Disney released two live-action remakes last year: Snow White and Lilo & Stitch. However, the films performed very differently. Snow White wasn’t successful at the box office, while Lilo & Stitch became a huge hit, earning over $1 billion worldwide.

Later this year, Disney will release a live-action remake of Moana. Dwayne Johnson will return as the demigod Maui, and newcomer Catherine Laga’aia will star as Moana.
