Marvel has announced a new 10-issue comic series called ‘Doomquest’ that features Doctor Doom in a major, time-traveling story. This project is coming out before the next Avengers movie and promises to be one of Doom’s biggest adventures yet.
Marvel Comics announces Doomquest
I’m so excited! Marvel just announced a huge new Doctor Doom series called Doomquest, and it’s going to be ten issues long! It’s coming out in May 2026, and I’m really happy Ryan North is writing it – I loved his work on One World Under Doom last year, and he’s currently doing a great job with Fantastic Four. The art is by Francesco Mobili, who did amazing work on Daredevil, so I know it’ll look fantastic. The first issue drops on May 27th, and Alex Ross is doing the cover – it’s going to be epic!
Marvel’s Doomquest is a self-contained story about Doctor Doom’s time-traveling quest to secure Latveria’s future and overcome his rival, Reed Richards. Doom attempts to change the past, fearing Richards will alter history to create a more peaceful world and advance human progress. Marvel describes the series as an exciting adventure that delves into the complex character of Victor Von Doom.
Reed Richards was honored at a worldwide conference where he announced his plan to retire by correcting mistakes from the past and saving countless lives. Victor Von Doom, feeling slighted and threatened by Reed’s goal, began his own separate undertaking. This led to a confrontation with the Fantastic Four, and a massive battle that stretched across time and the universe.
Ryan North was excited to work on a long-lasting Doom story, especially because he had complete creative freedom. He calls the series ‘Doom at its most extreme,’ explaining that it will dramatically reshape history. Artist Francesco Mobili added that Doctor Doom is a legendary villain, and he’s thrilled for fans to see what they’ve created.
The first issue of Doomquest will have multiple cover designs by artists Fabrizio De Tommaso, Nic Klein, John Romita Jr., Luciano Vecchio (inspired by Iron Man #149), Ryan Stegman (a shiny foil version), Rose Besch, MR Garcin, and Pete Woods. You can get a sneak peek in the Armageddon/X-Men #1 comic, which comes out May 2nd for Comics Giveaway Day.
