Doctor Foster season 3 update issued as key cast members reunite as drama continues 10 years on

The BBC announced that filming for the third season of Doctor Foster will begin ten years after the show originally premiered in 2015.

After a six-year hiatus since its second season in 2017, the show will start filming its third and final season this spring.

BBC iPlayer announced the news on Instagram with a photo of Suranne Jones, Bertie Carvel, and Tom Taylor – the actors who play Gemma, Simon, and Tom – getting together to rehearse the new script.

I first started watching Doctor Foster back in 2015, and I was immediately hooked! It centers around Gemma, a doctor played by Suranne Jones, who begins to suspect her husband, Simon, is cheating. What follows is an incredible story of her uncovering the truth and getting even – it quickly became a massive hit for the BBC, and I totally understand why!

Season 2 began a few years after the first season ended. Simon’s ongoing relationship with Kate (Jodie Comer) continued to cause problems for Gemma.

Season 3 will show Gemma starting a new chapter as she gets ready to marry someone new.

Ten years ago, Gemma Foster discovered her husband, Simon, was cheating on her. She carefully planned a complex revenge, but the consequences were terrible when her 15-year-old son, Tom, went missing.

The third series follows Gemma as she navigates life as a doctor and prepares for her wedding. While excited about starting a new chapter with someone special, old secrets and past issues begin to surface as the wedding approaches, potentially jeopardizing her happiness and standing in the community.

Gemma is determined to defend her loved ones and uncover who’s trying to harm her. But can she overcome her past, get revenge, and build the life she wants before time runs out?
