As a huge theatre lover, I was so excited to hear the Royal Shakespeare Company just revealed their plans for the autumn 2026 season! Everyone I know who follows British theatre is buzzing about it.
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) will be performing “As You Like It,” and it’s exciting news because the show will star Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff. This is in addition to their other productions like “Julius Caesar,” “Middlemarch,” and “Game of Thrones: The Mad King.”
Daniel Evans, who is a co-artistic director, is directing this production of Shakespeare’s play with an all-male cast.

I just got a first look at this production, and it’s really something special. It’s playing in Stratford-upon-Avon from September 26th through November 7th, and it’s particularly exciting because it marks the RSC debut of a fantastic performer, Groff. Definitely one to watch!
Fisayo Akinade will star alongside him as Celia, and the rest of the cast will be revealed soon. Tickets will be available starting the first week of March for RSC members, and from March 18th for everyone else, through the RSC website.

Groff expressed his excitement about returning to Stratford, saying he was deeply thankful for the chance to perform Shakespeare on stage there for the very first time.
Director Daniel Evans shared that he’s been a fan of Jonathan for more than two decades, citing standout performances in shows like Spring Awakening, Merrily We Roll Along (for which Jonathan won a Tony Award), and Just in Time.
As a total cinema lover, I’ve always believed a great performance hinges on connection, and Jonathan just has it. He’s incredibly giving on screen, completely open with his emotions, and throws himself fully into every role. That’s precisely what I was hoping for when we cast him as Rosalind – he just embodies that kind of depth.
