Doctor Who confirmed to continue on BBC “with or without Disney”

Kate Phillips, as BBC’s Content Chief, openly discusses Doctor Who‘s continuation. She indicates that the show will persist on BBC, regardless of whether Disney is involved or not.

Since Ncuti Gatwa’s departure at the conclusion of season 15, the future of science fiction has been left somewhat ambiguous, as he transformed unexpectedly into Billie Piper during a shocking plot twist.

Despite Disney not having made a decision about continuing the show, Phillips was recently questioned about the potential future of the series during the Edinburgh TV Festival.

“Any Whovians out there, rest assured – Doctor Who is going nowhere,” she asserted.

As a loyal fan, I’m thrilled to say that our collaboration with Disney has been fantastic, and it carries on into next year with “The War Between The Land And The Sea”. Moving forward, whether Disney is along for the ride or not, rest assured, Doctor Who will continue to grace our screens on BBC.

She went on to assure fans: “The TARDIS is going nowhere.”

Lindsay Salt, head of BBC Drama, stated that currently there is no news about Doctor Who’s future. However, the BBC remains dedicated and committed to continuing the series.

According to Showrunner Russell T Davies, he’s unsure about Disney’s future plans for the show, but he certainly has some concepts brewing for potential new seasons.

Meanwhile, BBC Studios CEO Tom Fussell has said the BBC remains “really committed” to Doctor Who.

He shared with Deadline earlier this year, “The Doctor Who brand has always been beloved by fans, even before I started wearing shorts.

He emphasized that the team remains deeply dedicated to ‘Doctor Who,’ constantly exploring new avenues to deliver the series to its audience.
