In a fresh twist, the well-known Doctor Who actress Carole Ann Ford will make her comeback on screens in a chilling horror movie titled Harbinger, which is being produced by Shogun Films. Preview images offer a glimpse into Ford’s character in this eagerly anticipated film.
Carrie Ann Moore, popularly known for her debut as Susan Foreman, the Doctor’s granddaughter, graced the role in the initial tale of Doctor Who, titled “An Unearthly Child,” all the way back in 1963.
In Harbinger, Ford portrays Sue, the mom of Julia (Jeanine Sothcott), who is the sole survivor among Henry Decker’s (Peter Woodward) victims, a notorious serial killer with ties to devil worship.
Julia is convinced by TV host Mike Craggs, who is portrayed by Gary Webster, to return to the scene of Decker’s wrongdoings for a spooky live broadcast. However, when the team discovers a cursed fortune-telling device and draws their fortunes from it, they inadvertently awaken a horrifying new entity.
Ford shared that the environment was incredibly nurturing. He developed a deep affection for everyone on the production, from his delightful ‘daughter’ Jeanine, all the way to the makeup artist known as Flea.
After a long break from making movies, I was eager to rekindle my passion for the art of filmmaking. What truly took me by surprise, however, was the overwhelming warmth and kindness shown by everyone involved.
Working alongside Jeanine felt as though I was collaborating with a long-lost relative. She had the uncanny ability to blend seamlessly into our team, and I eagerly anticipate future opportunities to work with her once more.

Jeanine Sothcott, her co-star, remarked: “It was a privilege to collaborate with such a fantastic, legendary actress – she’s truly inspiring. Working with Carole was delightful, entertaining, stunning, and gracious. I couldn’t have hoped for a more fitting on-screen mother figure.
She possesses a robust, caring, and optimistic personality that truly stands out. It’s delightful to observe this talented actress in her eighties portraying a role not typically confined to a bed.
Following her portrayal of Susan in Doctor Who’s 1983 special The Five Doctors during its 20th anniversary, Ford unexpectedly reappeared in the show’s modern era, featuring in the 2025 episode titled The Interstellar Song Contest alongside Ncuti Gatwa’s portrayal of the Doctor.

Beyond the TARDIS, Ford is also famously recognized for her performances in the 1962 sci-fi film Day of the Triffids and the 1966 comedy The Great St. Trinian’s Train Robbery. On television, she has made notable appearances in Emergency Ward 10, Z-Cars, Public Eye, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?, and Moonstrike.
The newest production hailing from independent studio Shogun Films is titled “Harbinger”. Directed by James Crow, who is known for Nemesis, this upcoming movie features Tony Sands and Johnny Palmiero in leading roles.
One of the perks of creating our movies is collaborating with numerous legendary veteran actors, as Britain possesses a vast history of cinema and television. It’s delightful that we can provide diverse opportunities for these renowned actors to shine.
Harbinger will be released in early 2026.
