Doctor Who icon confirmed to join The Good Ship Murder season 4 as major new character

Season four of ‘The Good Ship Murder‘ is coming soon, with Shayne Ward returning as Jack Grayling, a former detective who now performs cabaret. However, he’ll have company on this new adventure.

Peter Davison, known for his role in Doctor Who, is joining the show as Eddie Grayling, Jack’s father. Eddie is described as a charming and clever former detective with a lot of street smarts.

Eddie remains incredibly perceptive, and when the ship encounters rough seas, he dusts off his classic detective skills to team up with his son and solve crimes together.

Davison expressed his enjoyment of working on “The Good Ship Murder,” calling his character “a delight to play.”

I’ve really enjoyed working with Shayne and building a father-son relationship on ‘The Good Ship,’ especially while playing detectives,” he said. “Shayne quickly became part of the team, and filming our scenes together has been effortless. He’s clearly the faster runner and better singer, though!”

Davison will be joined by Fiona Allen, known from ‘Smack the Pony’, who is taking on the role of Captain Serena ‘The Iceberg’ Teller. The character is described as a pioneering woman in the world of seafaring, replacing Catherine Tyldesley in the part.

I’ve heard Serena described as really intimidating – someone who commands respect, and maybe even a little fear, from the people she works with. But what’s fascinating is that beneath that tough exterior, you get glimpses of the huge price she’s paid and the sacrifices she’s made to get where she is. It makes her a much more complex and compelling character, honestly.

Allen expressed his excitement about leading ‘The Good Ship Murder,’ acknowledging the significant responsibility that comes with the role. He described Captain Serena Teller as a complex and multifaceted character.

“She’s great fun to play and I’ve been excited to bring something new to a much-loved series.”

The show will also feature guest appearances by well-known actors including Anita Dobson (known for roles in Doctor Who and EastEnders), Richard Blackwood (The Madame Blanc Mysteries, EastEnders), Matthew Kelly (Inside No. 9, Not Going Out), Rula Lenska (Mr Bigstuff, Coronation Street), Debra Stephenson (Bad Girls, Coronation Street), Neil Stuke (Hijack, Grantchester), and Ramon Tikaram (Kaos, Pennyworth).

Ward expressed his delight in welcoming Peter Davison and Fiona Allen to the show, as well as all the fantastic guest stars joining this season.

Everyone is thrilled with the casting choices, and there’s a lot of positive energy around the new actors who are bringing a fresh direction to the project.

The new season promises a turbulent ride, as Jack faces both personal and work-related challenges while investigating high-stakes mysteries unfolding against the beautiful scenery of the Mediterranean.
