Alex Kingston, known for her role in Doctor Who, has shared her strong disapproval of the recent regeneration storyline. She doesn’t believe it makes sense that Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor transformed into Billie Piper’s character.
Although the specifics are still unknown, Alex Kingston, who played River Song and appeared with David Tennant and Matt Smith as the Doctor, is certain that Billie Piper isn’t taking on the role of the new Doctor.
Something feels off about all of this. I just don’t believe she’ll be the next Doctor, and if she is, they’ll need to do a lot to change my mind, especially since she isn’t from Gallifrey.
Piper played Rose Tyler in Doctor Who before, and with her recently returning to the show, fans are wondering if River Song might also make a comeback.
I still feel connected to River, especially since I continue to record audio versions of her adventures with the Doctors. Plus, there are the ‘River Song Diaries’ which really let me revisit the character,” Kingston explained.
I’ve always loved being part of the Doctor Who universe and I’d jump at the chance to return. Working on the show is pure joy, and I even think there’s a possibility my character could be brought back through technology, since she was essentially saved within a computer program.

She’s incredibly capable – she could even create a copy of herself with a 3D printer, or break into any computer system and cause trouble. I think there’s a lot of potential there if she chose to explore those abilities.
“But maybe they feel like that’s the end of that character. But never say never!”
