Alex Vesia is speaking out about a difficult time.
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on October 23rd that a relief pitcher would be taking a leave of absence during the 2025 World Series. Shortly after, he and his wife, Kayla Vesia, shared the heartbreaking news of the loss of their daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia.
The couple announced on Instagram November 7th that their daughter had passed away on October 26th. They shared a photo of themselves holding their baby’s hand and wrote that they are heartbroken and will always treasure the time they had with her.
Despite the sadness of losing their baby, which they had announced in April, Alex and Kayla expressed gratitude towards the baseball team.
The couple expressed their gratitude to the Dodgers organization for their kindness and help. They also shared that the support from their baseball community meant a lot and was essential to them.
Beyond expressing their gratitude to the hospital staff, Alex and Kayla also thanked the baseball world, saying, “Thank you to Dodger Nation, the Blue Jays organization, and all baseball fans for your incredible support. We’ve read all your messages and posts, and they’ve meant a lot to us.”
The Dodgers, who went on to win the World Series on November 1st, publicly supported Alex when he left the team to be with his family.
The Dodgers announced on October 23rd that pitcher Alex Vesia is currently away from the team. He and his wife, Kayla, are dealing with a difficult personal family issue, and the entire organization is offering their support and well wishes. The team will share more information when it’s available.
While the 29-year-old player was away, his teammates honored him during their game against the Toronto Blue Jays. On October 27th, in game three of the World Series, the players all wore hats with his number, 51, displayed on the side.

Giving Alex and Kayla the space and time they needed was a priority, and that’s why he wasn’t included on the World Series team.
Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman explained to reporters on October 24th that they wanted to avoid any possibility of creating pressure. He emphasized that the situation was far more important than the game itself, and the team wanted to offer their full support in any way they could.

After the game, pitcher Clayton Kershaw explained that the team had been discussing a way to recognize a teammate. “I’m still getting used to pitching out of the bullpen, but Ves is really important to all of us,” he said. “He was a key member of this team and especially the bullpen, and we wanted to do something to show our appreciation for him.”

To respect Alex and Kayla’s needs, he wasn’t included on the World Series team, allowing him the necessary time with them.

I was so excited when Kayla and Alex Vesia finally confirmed they were a couple on Instagram back in April 2019! Kayla’s caption was the cutest – she wrote, “GAME OVER (literally & metaphorically).” It was clear she’d found ‘the one!’

When Alex began playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021, Kayla and his parents consistently cheered him on from the stands, showing they were his most dedicated fans.

A year before he popped the question, Alex celebrated a huge milestone for the couple.
In an April 2022 post, he celebrated three years with his partner, writing, “Happy 3 Years! It feels like time has flown by. I love sharing life with you – you make me incredibly happy, and I love you so much!”

The couple spent the 2023 holiday season looking forward to their wedding. Alex playfully announced it online, writing, “Merry Christmas from the future Vesias!!”

The couple married in January 2024 and then took their first trip as husband and wife to Mexico.

Things are going well for the couple, who marked their first wedding anniversary with a hot air balloon ride in January 2025.

Kayla and Alex shared a sweet moment from their date night, showing off Kayla’s baby bump. Alex posted on Instagram, calling the evening with his wife ‘amazing!’

Once the Dodgers secured their place in the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, Kayla publicly congratulated her partner with a celebratory post that simply said, “& NOW… ONTO THE WORLD SERIES.”
