Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Family: A Guide to Duane Chapman’s 13 Kids

Sadly, there has been an unfortunate accident in the family of Duane “Dog” Chapman, best known for his role on ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’. Dog and his wife Francie are deeply mourning the death of their grandson Anthony who was 13 years old. According to reports from TMZ, this tragic incident occurred at their home in Naples, Florida on July 19th, due to an accidental shooting by Anthony’s father Gregory Zecca (Francie’s son).

In a statement to the outlet, Dog and Francie expressed their grief, asking for continued prayers as they cope with the loss of their beloved grandson. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office in Florida confirmed receiving a call about the shooting shortly after 8 p.m. on July 19th and stated that it was an isolated incident. They have initiated a thorough investigation into all aspects of this tragic accident, including witness statements, forensic testing, subpoenas, and search warrants.

As reported by TMZ, no arrests have been made in the case. Moreover, a family representative shared with the outlet that Greg’s profound grief over the loss of his son has caused him to be placed under psychiatric care.

Greg is one of Francie’s two sons. On the other hand, Dog fathered 13 children from his four marriages and past relationships: Jon, Christopher, Duane Lee Jr., Leland, Zebadiah, Wesley, James, Barbara, Tucker, Lyssa, Bonnie, Garry, and Cecily.

In a conversation with Supernanny’s Jo Frost, Dog once shared that he had many children of his own and stepchildren. “You need to enter their world,” he said about his kids, some of whom appeared on his bounty hunting shows. “They don’t live in our fast-paced world just yet. Try to see the world through their eyes and let them be. Patience is a virtue for children, but it should also be a virtue for parents.”

People are familiar with Duane Chapman, or “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” from various TV shows such as “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” “Dog & Beth: On the Hunt” featuring his late wife Beth Chapman, and “Dog’s Most Wanted.”

Outside of the screen, his personal life has often seemed like a real-life soap opera. Given that he has been married five times to women including La Fonda Sue Honeycutt, Ann Tegnell, Lyssa Rae Brittain, Beth, and Francie Chapman (also known as Francie Frane), and has 13 children.

In June 2023, Dog expressed on Instagram that the day had long been a source of deep sadness due to the passing of his wife Beth. However, he found solace when he discovered his previously unaware son named Jon was born on this exact day. Now, instead of sorrow, this day holds a new significance for him as he introduced Jon and his wife Jodi to the world.

As a devoted follower, I should clarify that Jon isn’t the only son Snoop Dogg has had minimal interaction with. According to sources like People and The Sun, Snoop Dogg also has a son named Christopher Hecht, born in 1972 while he was serving time in prison for a murder conviction he claims he didn’t commit. His son was later put up for adoption. Over the years, Christopher has had some brushes with the law, including a three-year prison sentence in 2021 due to a 2020 menacing arrest, as reported by The Sun.

Duane Jr., born in 1973 and named after his father, is the son of Dog from his first marriage to La Fonda. Like his dad, he followed a career as a bounty hunter and made appearances on his father’s shows. Nowadays, he chooses to keep his personal life away from the screen.

During Dog’s marriage to La Fonda, they also had a son named Leland who was born in 1976. After appearing on his father’s TV shows, Leland chose to follow in his father’s footsteps. In a December 2024 Instagram post, Dog wrote, “Still bounty hunting, chip off the old block.” It should be noted that Leland is not only a bounty hunter but also a father. According to Us Weekly, he has sons Dakota and Cobie with his first wife Maui Chapman, and later welcomed daughter Leiah with Lynette Yi. Currently, Leland is married to Jamie Chapman.

Following his divorce from La Fonda, Dog subsequently married Ann Tegnell. The couple is reported to have had sons named Zebediah and Wesley in 1980, with another son, James, joining the family in 1982, as per People magazine.

In this scenario, Wesley is a rancher at Chapman Springs Ranch in Idaho and serves as the COO of interior design studio Loft Thirty One. He also founded an event called The Human Gathering. His wife is Jodie Chapman. Regarding his older brother Zebediah, it was reported that he passed away as a baby. Not much is known about his brother James, as he prefers to keep his personal life confidential.

In his third marriage with Lyssa Rae, Dog became a father to Barbara, Tucker, and Lyssa. Tragically, Barbara was involved in a car accident in Fairbanks, Alaska, on the eve of Dog and Beth’s wedding in 2006, as reported by Hawaii News Now. She was 23 years old. In a 2023 Instagram post, her sister Lyssa described Barbara as “the original Goth Barbie, rainbow, sailor moon loving, Broncos-obsessed, gender-blurring individual.” She was multifaceted, living life to the fullest and expressing her thoughts freely. She had a deep affection for animals and loved them in return. Her sister wrote, “I miss you my sister.

After leaving the show ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’, Tucker (born in 1983) has chosen a more secluded lifestyle. Yet, he’s shared insights about the hurdles he’s encountered. In a May 2025 Instagram post, he wrote, “I am a guinea pig for recovery. From addiction, from the penal system, from poor decisions leading to unfeeling rehabilitation centers, skeptical probation officers, and so on.” He aspires that his story can be a guide for others. “If you want something done correctly,” Tucker added, “sometimes you have to do it yourself. Since I’ve experienced the traps of life, I am working towards my ambition of assisting those who are stuck in the endless cycle of addiction, crime, and punishment.

Born in 1987, Lyssa was fittingly named after her mother also called Lyssa. As a young celebrity, she became a parent to daughter Abbie. In the year 2009, Lyssa exchanged vows with Brahman Galanti and they had daughter Madalynn the same year. Unfortunately, their marriage lasted only two years before parting ways. More recently, in 2022, she tied the knot with Leiana Evensen in Hawaii.

In the year 2006, Dog got married to Beth. They were proud parents to three kids: Bonnie Chapman, Garry Chapman, and Cecily Chapman. Tragically, in 2017, Beth was diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer. After a brief remission, her cancer recurred the next year. Sadly, she passed away in 2019 at the tender age of 51.

In her younger days, much like her family members, Bonnie (born in 1998) gained fame through the television show Dog the Bounty Hunter. These days, however, she’s been less focused on bounty hunting and more on sharing her fitness journey with fans.

She opened up to TopMob exclusively in 2024 about her weight loss struggles, admitting that she has been trying to shed excess pounds since she was around 18 years old. It became increasingly frustrating for her as she consistently put in effort but saw little progress. Over the years, she’s tried various diets such as Mediterranean and Paleo, but nothing seemed to deliver the results she desired.

Instead, she decided to try out injectable treatments for managing her weight, successfully reaching her target weight of 130 pounds (having dropped from her heaviest of 196 pounds), using Tirzepatide.

The influencer openly admitted that they shed tears on a few occasions, expressing their astonishment as they realized this was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for them. Yet, Bonnie and Dog have experienced highs and lows in their relationship. For instance, when they revealed to TMZ in 2021 that neither they nor sister Cecily were invited to his wedding to Francie.

Following their marriage, Dog took Beth’s daughter Cecily (born in 1993) into his family from a prior relationship. This little girl admired her father immensely and decided to emulate him by also becoming a bail agent.

In a June 2025 Instagram post, Dog celebrated Cecily’s birthday with the heartfelt message: “Happy Birthday, dear Cecily! I am so proud of the incredible woman you have become, and I feel truly blessed that God selected me to be your father!

Beyond his role on the show “Dog the Bounty Hunter”, Garry (born 2001) offers a peek into his life through social media, posting about his faith, family life with Nicole Chapman, fitness pursuits, and his profession in law enforcement.

In the midst of shared sorrow, as both had lost their respective spouses recently, Dog and Francie found solace and support in each other. As Francie expressed to Entertainment Tonight in 2020, “We understood each other’s pain and during those challenging times, we helped one another stay strong.” They walked together through the agony and heartbreak, a bond forming that was truly extraordinary.

Their first date took place at church, and they quickly felt a deep connection. By May 2020, they were engaged, and the following year, they tied the knot. Dog believed they were an ideal match not only on a personal level but also professionally. As he shared with Dr. Oz in 2020, “Francie is a hunter – she and her two sons have hunted, using bows. So she’s quite adept at tracking and finding signs of prey. She just fit right in.
