Dolly Parton announced on September 28th that she’s delaying her upcoming concerts in Las Vegas because of a health issue.
I’ve been facing some health issues and need a few medical procedures, as my doctors have advised. I’ve been joking that it’s time for a major overhaul – a ‘100,000-mile check-up,’ though this isn’t about cosmetic surgery!
The 79-year-old performer is delaying her shows from December 2025 to September 2026 as she gets ready for surgery.
Honestly, I won’t be able to rehearse and prepare the show I want to give you – the one you deserve. You spend your hard-earned money to see me perform, and I want to be in top shape for you all. I’ll still be working on my other projects here in Nashville, but I just need some time to get fully ready to perform, as they say.
But for those concerned she may be retiring soon, Parton went on to set the record straight.
I’m not planning on leaving anytime soon – I haven’t felt like God is telling me to stop,” she said. “However, I do feel like He wants me to take things a bit slower right now, so I can be prepared for whatever exciting things the future holds with all of you. I appreciate your support and love you all.
The country singer didn’t share many specifics about what happened, but she had to cancel an appearance at Dollywood after being diagnosed with a kidney stone, which she said was causing significant discomfort.
She explained in a video on September 17th that she’d developed an infection. Her doctor advised her to stay home and rest for a few days to recover, saying she shouldn’t be traveling at the moment.
In addition to her own health challenges, Dolly Parton is grieving the loss of her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in March.
She shared on social media that she was grateful for the outpouring of support following the death of her husband, Carl. She wrote, “He’s now with God, and I find peace in that. I’ll always cherish my love for him.”
