Donald Glover didn’t want to let down his community.
Donald Glover, known as Childish Gambino, recently revealed he had a stroke while on tour in 2024. This health issue caused him to cancel the rest of his tour, and he had initially described it as a general “ailment.”
Donald shared that while on tour, he experienced a severe headache in Louisiana but continued with the show anyway. Later, in Houston, he went to the hospital and learned he had suffered a stroke, as he explained while on stage at Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles on November 22nd.
He continued, “The first thing I thought was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down.’”
Upon further testing after his stroke, the doctors discovered yet another scary medical issue.
The 42-year-old shared that doctors discovered a heart problem. They performed surgery to fix it, and a second surgery became necessary afterwards.
Although Donald has recovered and is doing much better now, his recent brush with death has still affected him.
He shared, “People often say you live two lives – the first, and then the one that begins when you realize you only have one.” He continued, “We all have just one life, and I have to say, being with you all has been a true gift. I absolutely love performing for and seeing you.”

Even so, the Atlanta-based celebrity – who shares 9-year-old Legend, 7-year-old Drake, and 5-year-old Donald with his wife, Michelle White – was still thinking about his fans.
Honestly, all I want is to get this show on the road and finally perform for everyone! It’s been a long time coming, and I’m just bursting to share it. Until that day comes, though, thank you all so much for the incredible love, for respecting my privacy, and for all your support. It means the world to me, seriously!

The former Community star recently shared what he’s learned about his health, a little over a year after he had to end his New World Tour and seek hospitalization.
Following a show in New Orleans in October 2024, Donald went to a Houston hospital to check out a health issue that had started to bother him. Doctors determined he wasn’t well enough to perform that night, and further testing revealed he wouldn’t be able to complete the rest of his US tour as scheduled.
He shared that he has surgery scheduled and needs time off to recover, emphasizing that his healing process is a serious priority.

Even so, the Atlanta-based celebrity – who has three sons named Legend, 9, Drake, 7, and Donald, 5, with his wife Michelle White – was still thinking about his fans.
He finished by saying his biggest wish is to perform the show for his fans. He also thanked everyone for their love, respect for his privacy, and continued support.

Lupita Nyong’o received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the year she won an Academy Award for her role in 12 Years a Slave.
She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
She explained that growing up, she was taught to expect periods to be painful, and to accept that pain as a normal part of being female. This leaves many women dealing with a common issue in silence and without support.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she had been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.
Someone messaged Suki on X, the platform previously called Twitter, asking why she hadn’t been posting lately. The message jokingly suggested the reason was a hernia she’d gotten from wearing very tight pants six months prior, something she was afraid to mention.

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery because his appendix was close to rupturing.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I experience spasms throughout my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, they said I was dying.”
He mentioned that his pain is intermittent, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and doesn’t always function as expected.

Let me tell you, I recently had a really scary health experience. I ended up in the hospital because of some terrible back pain. It got so bad during a road trip with a friend that I literally had to crawl on my hands and knees to get help. It was a frightening moment, but thankfully I’m on the road to recovery!
He described a persistent tingling sensation, saying, ‘Even now, bringing my knees to my chest, it still feels tingly, which is really strange.’ He explained that just a few weeks prior, he was squatting almost 300 pounds, but now he can’t even do a single squat or stand on one foot without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

I was so shocked to hear that my favorite Housewife, Gina Kirschenheiter’s ex-husband, Matt, had a heart attack back in March of 2025. Thankfully, he pulled through, and I’m so relieved to know he’s okay. It’s just good to hear he survived such a scary thing.

One bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of a direct hit. @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, evaluating her injuries and rushing her to the hospital.
The former Kim Possible star shared that a small piece of something is stuck behind their eye. Doctors believe it’s too dangerous to try and remove it with surgery right now, but they’re keeping a close watch on the situation. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving and shared a heartfelt message about cherishing loved ones. She spoke about her deep affection for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, and described how quickly life can change. She urged everyone to hug those around them, emphasizing how precious and fleeting life can be.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and receiving critical comments online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she’s relieved to be healthy. As she shared, getting this diagnosis and knowing she would recover was wonderful news.

An AHL player suffered a skate cut during a December 2024 game, requiring 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how grateful they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly began to have stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although these symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA, or transient ischemic attack. Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affects the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, adding that while the situation was frightening and unexpected, he was going to be okay and she was thankful he was fine.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, Foxx explained that he was suffering from a severe headache when he suddenly lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became worried and took him to the hospital. Doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.
After surgery, it took 20 days for Foxx to regain consciousness. He woke up on May 4th in a wheelchair, unable to walk, and then traveled to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show, describing the experience as feeling like ‘dying’.
She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but she then experienced a bright light, leading her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

As a huge fan of Emilia Clarke, I was absolutely floored when I read her essay detailing her health battles. It turns out, while filming some of those intense Game of Thrones battle scenes, she was actually fighting a battle for her life. She described a terrifying experience at the gym where she suddenly felt incredibly ill and realized something was seriously wrong with her brain. It turned out she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a really dangerous type of stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm.
She had immediate surgery, but even after that, things weren’t over. She struggled with aphasia, finding it hard to speak, and was even mumbling nonsense. Thankfully, that passed, and she was eventually discharged from the hospital after a month. But then, a scan in 2013 revealed the aneurysm had actually grown, requiring another surgery. This one was even more invasive, needing them to access her brain directly through her skull. She described waking up screaming in pain after that procedure, and the doctors were honest – her chances of survival were very low if it failed.
Thankfully, she pulled through, and she says she’s now completely recovered and at 100%. It’s truly inspiring to hear her story and see how resilient she is, especially considering everything she went through while filming a demanding show like Game of Thrones.

In January 2024, Cori suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones, sending a text and a picture to let them know what happened. She told TopMob News that everyone quickly came to her aid.
Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to other health issues. In addition to recovering from the stroke, she was also dealing with complications from lupus and kidney problems.
Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. She says she’s feeling great and has been working to regain some motor skills, but overall is doing fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with her health throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and digestive issues. She saw many doctors, receiving conflicting diagnoses, and ultimately decided to take a holistic approach, combining traditional medicine with alternative therapies.
This health journey lasted a decade, and the physical discomfort led to emotional struggles, including fear of food and concerns about body image and identity. Woodley described a confusing time where she felt unsafe in her own body.
Fortunately, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental wellbeing, Shailene is now healthy and happy. She shared that her health issues have resolved themselves, and she feels grateful to be in a good place.
