Don’t Expect Intergalactic PS5 to Launch Until at Least 2027

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Sony plans to release games like Saros, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Marvel Tokon in 2026 on the PS5. The next game from Naughty Dog, currently titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is now expected in 2027.

Rumors started circulating earlier this weekend that Intergalactic might be showcased at The Game Awards next month, following comments made by Colin Moriarty, host of the Sacred Symbols podcast.

According to people working on the game, it’s finished in terms of content and might be released next year.

Rumors started circulating on Reddit, but journalist Jason Schreier quickly debunked them, confirming that the game ‘Intergalactic’ won’t be released in 2026. He also clarified that development is still in early stages and Naughty Dog has a significant amount of work ahead of them.

Jeff Grubb, a member of the Giant Bomb team, clarified on social media that the game won’t be revealed at The Game Awards, after a tweet suggested it would be.

Naughty Dog has been hiring a lot of people recently, but that doesn’t automatically mean their new game is almost ready. Even roles focused on polishing and finishing the game’s content don’t guarantee an imminent release.

In a follow-up, Schreier stated he’s certain the game Intergalactic won’t be released in 2026, based on information from people working on its development.

Setting a 2027 release date for Intergalactic would mean it could launch alongside the anticipated PS6, which rumors suggest will also be released that year. This isn’t unusual for Naughty Dog – both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II were released right before new PlayStation consoles (the PS4 and PS5, respectively).
